- I would not paint the vanity dark. Paint it a lighter color; off white, cream, beige. The beige is not a bad color. My tile is Pink/gray and the bathtub is Pink. Everything else has been changed out to white. The tile is in excellent condition and I have no plans of getting rid of it. I am just going with the color and it looks really cute....retro. We bought a vanity top at a thrift store for $10 and got a new faucet. The tub is hid by a shower curtain, so no one realizes it is pink unless I tell them. Good Luck
