Has anyone ever painted or stained the oak one a different color to match their bathroom a little better. Like a darker cherry vs. the light oak that you buy it as ?Was wondering if this could be done, or a good idea, would I have to prime it first, I mean it is wood, it should be able to absorb and accept a good quality wood stain, right ?
- If the vanity has a factory finish on it, you will not be able to restain it without a lot of difficulty. The polyurethane finish will not let the stain penetrate the wood. You can use a bonding primer and then a top coat of paint. If you want to stain your own, you should check into buying an unfinished vanity. God Luck

In the second link, is a photo of one I bought at Home Depot (special order I think) for about $400. Kohler Archer ?Petite Vanity, in Black Forest with matching sink top. It does have two drawers, with the pipes exposed in the middle, and measures 24' wide by 20' deep.

- Q: I want to replace a damaged one with another banjo countertop. Some suggest getting rid of it because they can seem dated. But if I did, removal would require patching and painting a wall to match other walls in this small bathroom. And the big mirror would look overpowering & unbalanced then. I actually like the extra room the banjo provides over the toilet area as I display soaps and silver accessories there. Big Box stores like Home Depot and Lowes dont carry them. I am in southern California and do not want the expense of granite or quartz. The current countertop is white cultured marble and pretty tasteful for what it is. (p.s. I am not interested in painting it. I think the results look too DIY.

- I would go with a simple silver knob, don't go very fancy though: you could always try nice colours like a light pink or blue? And a good colour to go with chestnut would be a simple pair of black knobs.
