- Q: it is just about 4 small scorch marks from a curling iron on the vanity top, is there something i can use to get it off
- The scorch marks are where the formica has been highly oxidized (basically lightly burned). Your only hope is that you caught the marks before the burn went too deep. Try a very mild abrasive to remove the bad formica. (Gently as the formica covering isn't very thick).
- Q: There is no upstairs and it is a flatroof home. It is a single 2" diameter pvc pipe that looks exactly like the drain pipe under the sink. It is in the wall and goes up to the ceiling. It is placed directly behind the faucet/drain of the bathroom sink. Is this like an airvent for the drain? I need to relocate it because it is where I need to place a lighting fixture box so it can be centered. Would it be ok to cut it above and below the space I need and rejoin it with a jog to the left, up and a jog to the right to reconnect it so I will be able to center the vanity light? Thanks.
- It's a vent to prevent the trap from being emptied by vacuum effect that can occur if the fixture is far from the main stack. You can move it but ideally it wouldn't have right angles, but rather a 45 or less at each turn

The old vanity and top appeared to be of normal length (60'/61'), like the new pair I picked up at OKorders (I did a quick measure and it looked close, so I assumed it was of standard size). However, the geniuses who built my home built the space for the vanity (between a regular wall and a half-wall beside the toilet) exactly 60' wide. So while the vanity will squeeze in, the vanity top won't. I am thinking I will have to end up removing the half-wall, but I want to do as little work as possible. Is there a way to shave an inch off the wall? Anybody think of any ideas? BTW, the vanity top is a marble top, so I doubt I can shave an inch off that.....Thanks in advance.
- why don't you build it into the wall since you are going to have to remove it and ..hopefully there is no beams.. oh the outlet I just read... lets hope the electrical can run under it..or I would consult with someone who works with marble... building it into the wall or even changing the form of the wall may de-value your house.. I would consider a new vaniy..sadly

- Q: My dog decided to chew off a corner of our bathroom vanity, which is made out of particle board. I am checking to see if it's possible to repair the cabinet. Would wood putty or some other substance work to recreate the corner edge? If you have any ideas for how to repair or replace particle board, I'd be grateful!The other option, of course, is to buy a new vanity and replace it ourselves. - Depending on the size of the missing piece, I would sand or shave the damaged area to get a clean edge then get some scrap particle board of the same thickness, shape it to match the missing piece then glue it on. once it is dried sand the area where you glued it, to provide a smooth finish. Then paint or finish as needed.
