Q: so this summer im thinking just for fun me and my friend should make chairs. so im thinking what this project will cost me. and also i have NO tools other then like a screw driver probly. so im wondering all together how much am i looking at and also plz list all the tools and there prices as well.: Chairs are ambitious projects for a beginner. They must be both engineered and built well so they withstand use and designed well so they look and feel nice. To add to the complications, most chairs have no square joints. I think you'd better consider another project.

Any ideas on what I could do to make these chairs look better?: Honey, unfortunately, renting chair covers WAS your cheapest option, depending on what you were looking at. Going out and buying material, no matter WHAT material, is going to be expensive and incredibly time consuming. I don't know what kind of time you have, but considering your wedding is in 5 days, I would either look at their lowest price chair cover or talk to the banquet hall about their options. Another option that I saw at a bridal show that I went to recently was tying a band of tulle around the back of a chair and securing it with a single silk flower (hot glued with a some kind of pin to secure everything) and letting the rest of the tulle hang down kind of like a bow, but without the actual bow. Upon closer examination I could see that it could be replicated rather inexpensively and you could certainly arrange the tulle to cover more of the chair and it would detract from the tackiness of the chair. I just don't think you will be able to do a full on chair cover in this short amount of time. Good luck honey!

Q: fabric chairs: Your question needs to have more information provided in order for me to assist you better. When talking about chairs, have you looked on the underside of the seat area to see if it is screwed down and removable? Or are they like parsons chairs that are completely covered with fabric from the seat to the back of chair? You need to be more specific on type of chair before I can tell you how to do this. If the seat portion of the chair is removable(look underneath, and unscrew screws holding it on) Take seat off. Place seat of chair faced down onto fabric of choice, cut out fabric using chair seat as guide. Draw up side of fabric to be sure you have ample fabric to come to bottom of chair. Wrap seat as of you were wrapping a gift and staple with heavy gage stapler. Screw back on seat. If this is a solid fabric chair, consider buying slipcovers or making your own out of sheets.

Ikea has some great square ones (they call them cushions but they look like pillows) that are plain white, and then they sell covers to go over them so you can get a variety and remove and wash them when they get dirty. Plus the styles and colors of the covers change pretty regularly so if your tastes change you can easily replace the covers. For that matter- Ikea has some pretty funky chairs too, and they're usually reasonably priced, but they're not always the most comfortable.
