Q:did you have any as a child? did your mom rock you or your grandparents ..do you have porch rocking chairs.. did you rock your babys and children including two am feedings in the quiet when hopefully everyone else was asleep and had alone time... did you manage to hang on to any of those rocking chairs.. have a safe life everyone GOD BLESS..
Yes! My earliest memory is my Mother rocking me as I had ear aches. I kept a rocking chair in children's bedrooms to rock them and the same chair is now at my Daughter's home. Now, each day I sit on my daughters enclosed porch to take a break and grand kids take turns sitting on my lap for a good rocking along with a song or two. I love rocking and wonder about good affects of it. I think it must be therapeutic (thank you spell check)in some way.
Q:what is the purpose of chairs being attached to desks ? like the ones you see in some high schools ..
It's so they are always together otherwise chairs or desks would be taken from rooms and pairs would not be available. Also, being together makes a chair/desk combination more compact than a desk and a chair if separate.
Q:I been looking for hours online and all computer chairs have wheels :( I don't need to skate around in a chair. All non wheeled regular chairs look uncomfortable to sit at a computer. Thanks so much if you know of a place that sells them or even a model or whatever.
You'll have better luck with these search terms: Guest chair Reception chair Side chair These don't seem to be on rollers. I hope you find what you are looking for :)
Q:I'm a web consultant, and I spend many hours at my computer. At worst, I can spend 18 hours or more if I'm finishing up a large project. This is not part time work for me, it's all I do.Currently I have some chair from Staples that was like $125 and my back is killing me. After less than a year the cushion provides no support whatsoever... I just sink down to the plastic immediately.I'll consider spending whatever to get the right chair, I consider it a semi long term investment. I don't want to spend more than I have to though, so keep that in mind.
Sometimes it is best to get the $50 chair with the thickest cushion. Then give that to a friend if it doesn't work out. Then move up the ladder. The $800 chairs can be wonderful but if it doesn't exactly fit your body, you wasted your money. You can never sit in the chair long-enuf in the store to know if it will work.
Q:I know it's polite for a man to help a lady into her chair (pull the chair out for her and help her push the chair in as she sits down) but is it also good manners for the man to help her OUTof the chair too?In a restaraunt, I saw a man get up from his seat, then walk over to his lady's seat and helped her pull the chair out. She remained seated until he began moving the chair. I watched very closely and she didn't appear to have any heath problems or injuries - she moved very freely and it was just like the sitting down routine, except in reverse. I never saw that before, and I thought it was rather weird. Reminded me of a queen waiting for her servant or something...!
It is just part of old-fashioned chivalry. I agree with Sue, I've seen (a few times) a man who still half-rises when a woman seats herself or gets up from a table. The gentlemen in Pretty Woman did it when they went out to the fancy dinner when she wore the black cocktail dress. Those men are a dying breed, but its refreshing to see every now and then.
Q:I am looking to buy new task chairs for my receptionists and physicians in an office and not spend $300 per chair. They must be able to withstand 8 hour a day use. Any ideas for brand or place I can check out that will hold up? Or any suggestions/warnings of what to stay away from? Thanks in advance for your help!
As you recognize that we've got to pay a minimum of eight hours within the sitting position at our chairs each day so thanks to this reality, the standard and luxury of operating ESD chairs is that the most vital work tool for your health and productivity at one fell swoop. The foremost reason that the use of the ESD chairs can be seen in virtually each supposed organization functioning on the face of this planet currently.
Q:Just wondering how to go about this. I have four table chairs that i would like to re stain. I tried just sanding it but the old varnish clogs the paper really fast. I tried paint stripper but when I go to remove it I always get tiny splashes that some how get onto my skin and burn like a mofo. I'm using gloves but some always gets on my face, not so good. Could I just soak the chairs in water that has a bit of paint stripper?
Do not soak the chairs in water, it would swell the wood and loosen the glue in the joints. What I suggest is that you get the citrus type of stripper that isn't caustic to your skin. Use the stripper as directed on the container then sand away any remaining marks until your chairs are bare and ready for a new application of finish. I've used the citrus stripper successfully several times. Just allow everything to dry well before you sand again. You'll have to be patient but you'll be pleased with the results. Good luck with your project.
Q:was the chair of torture used on anyone famous?was it used in public places or hidden away?what agony did it produce?was it the worst, most horrific ever invented?
Origins: Used during the middle ages, it was used until the late 1800's in Europe. Appearance: There are many variants of the chair, though they all have one thing in common: spikes cover the back, arm-rests, seat, legs-rests, and foot-rests. The number of spikes in one of these chairs ranges from 500 to 1,500. Use: To avoid movement, the victim's wrists were tied to the chair or, in one version, two bars pushed the arms against arm-rests for the spikes to penetrate the flesh even further. In some versions, there were holes under the chair's bottom where the torturer placed coal to cause severe burns while the victim still remained conscious. This instrument's strength lies primarily in the psychological fear caused on the victims. It was a common practice to extract a confession by forcing the victim to watch someone else be tortured with this instrument. The time of death greatly varied ranging from a few hours to a day or more. No spikes penetrated any vital organ and the wounds was closed by the spike itself which delayed blood loss greatly. Whether it was one of the most horrific is debatable, but there are records of people committing suicide before being subjected to this type of torture.
Q:I am looking into buying this chair because I think it is beautiful! I plan on reupholstering it in some colorful fabric. She says there are no markings except for a sticker that claims it was reupolstered in 1987 or 1977 hard to read. There are 2 wheels on the front 2 legs. Other than that I do not know much about it. Any opinions or knowledge would be much appreciated, Thanks! The pictures are attached bellow.
I am thinking pre 1950s. Are those the origenal rollers if so a look at the rubber in them will tell more. Mabey 1920s.
Q:I'm having hard time deciding on which piece of furniture I should get for my room. I want either a double papasan chair or a lovesac supersac.
2nd one.
