Using a pair of scissors or a knife, carefully cut one of the stitches and then open the seam twelve to eighteen inches. The process of removing the beans can be messy. If you wish to save yourself some time, open up a large garbage bag and put the chair directly into the bag. Then shake the chair to remove the beans. If you have opened the seam wide enough, you can turn the chair inside out to remove the old beans. Then remove the chair from the bag and pick out the remaining beans. Next you simply refill the bag with your new filling. Use a needle and thread to repair the seam you had opened. Be sure the stitches are close together and strong. Then your bean bag chair is ready to be used again.

Swivel chairs can be very comfortable for just sitting, but I always feel like I have to lean forward uncomfortably to eat at the table because they tend to tilt back slightly. So it really depends, are you planning on using the set mostly for sitting at the table and eating, or for sitting and relaxing? I've never had a problem with the legs on non-swivel chairs getting caught in the deck cracks--but it is something to consider if the cracks on your deck are wider, or the legs are particularly small. Could I just soak the chairs in water that has a bit of paint stripper?: Do not soak the chairs in water, it would swell the wood and loosen the glue in the joints. What I suggest is that you get the citrus type of stripper that isn't caustic to your skin. Use the stripper as directed on the container then sand away any remaining marks until your chairs are bare and ready for a new application of finish. I've used the citrus stripper successfully several times. Just allow everything to dry well before you sand again. You'll have to be patient but you'll be pleased with the results.
