Q:I just recently had my floors changed from carpet to parquet (that wood-looking surface). It looks great but I don't want the chairs for my dining table to scratch it up. What can I put on the legs of the chair to keep it from making that scratchy noise and messing up the parquet (something that looks GOOD [no tennis balls please])

You have gotten good advise here from the others. My sister just moved into a home with all wood floors. Before the movers even placed her furniture in the house, I was outside with rubbing alcohol and cleaned the bottom of all furniture and affixed self stick felt pads to every single leg on each piece of furniture. We bought fists full of these floor protectors and found that Scotch brand is the best for adhesion and thickness. Remember, in order for any furniture leg protectors to prevent your floor from scratching, you need to sweep the floor regularly to remove the grit which when left on the floor will get lodged under the felt and still scratch your floor. So, invest in a good broom.

Q:The green chairs are pretty bad. Not sure if I can find room in my budget for chair cover rental as this is a completely unexpected expense. Anyone have any suggestions or links to good DIY websites?

Do you know anyone who knits or sow you could make pillow cushions out of some old pretty fabric they don't have to all look alike just have to be part of your wedding theme. You could also tie a beautiful elegant bow around the chairs using old sheets or shirts any fabric you have laying around, or you could go out and find a store that sells cheap ribbon, tie it at the top have it flow to the ground. The dollar store sells floral arts and crafts and so does Walmart you could put together some floral designs and find a way to attach it to the back of the chair. It really depends on what kind of chairs they are plastic, wood, etc. Maybe you could use some old sheets you don't use and throw them over the chair. If money is a big issue the thrift store has some nice shirts and pants you can turn into a cushion I don't know how much time you have left to do something about the chairs but I hope this helps or sparks some ideas for you.

Do you mean a professional massage chair, in which MT's perform chair massage, or a chair with electronic devices that give you a massage when you sit in it? If you're looking for the first one, I'm a huge fan of the Oakworks Portal Pro 3. I've used several chairs, and it is by far the best - lightest, fastest setup, most comfortable for clients of different sizes, and very sturdy. If it's the second type you're looking for, I'm no help. But I like the ones at the airport.

Q:i have these wooden chairs that have dried peeling paint i need to get off so i can stain them. there is no varnish or stain i can see, just old paint. Is sanding it off the best way to go? are there sanders small enough to get into the corners and grooves? i am pregnant, so chemicals are not an option. thank you!

Save yourself the grunting bending w/ one on the way. There are non toxic heavy paste strippers that are almost edible do not give off fumes. Can still wear gloves a mask. Bigger concern would be dust from sanding off old paint that may or may not contain lead. If ithe paint comes of cleanly w/ the paste, you may not have to sand at all just rub w/ steel or bronze wool have no dust at all. Always more than one way to skin a cat. Best regards congrats.

Q:I have asked this question before I have more information now.Yesterday I filled the foot tub with water/ turned it on and I also turned on the massage for the chair. After a few minutes It tripped so I pushed the reset button and it still tripped. I had the plug in the out let down by the floor the outlet above it is the one that tripped?Then I plugged the cord to the pedicure chair into an out let on another wall the chair after 15 minutes was still running. Then I turned the circuit breaker off and all the power to the room went off. Why is the chair running off one wall and not the other one?A guy came out and replaced the two out lets on the other wall that has the plug with the reset button.I was told the other wall needed grounding to run the pedicure chair. What does this mean I need to do. The electrician said It was the chair must have bad wiring. I have used this chair maybe 10 times NEW chair Please help?????? Thanks so very much

Pedicure chairs are required to be plugged into a GFCI protected circuit. Failure to plug the chair into a GFCI receptacle would render the occupier of the chair to a potentially fatal electrical shock in the event of a wiring fault. If your chair is tripping the GFCI, then there is a fault in your chair and it should be repaired by a qualified technician or replaced. DO NOT USE on a circuit that is not GFCI protected.

Q:I am going to get a chair to put in the corner of my bedroom.I really want something like this ball chair:

Paint your room a duck egg blue and then get things to go with it in the sae colour and then get stuff what is a relative colour to it like browns or gold or a calm yellow then get some photo frames and put photos of your best moments with your friends your pets your boyfriend ect. Get a two in one wardrobe the one what have the chest of drawers and a place to hang your clothes to it is a great space saver. Hope I helped ME

Q:I am wanting to be a kindergarten teacher or elementary teacher soon and I have rocking chair at home. Sometimes I feel that the chair is not too comfortable without a cushion. I want to ask kindergarten teachers who have added on a seat cushion to their chair for some advice. What chair do you have an added a cushion on? How long does the cushion usually last? Would you recommend getting a cushion that is filled with polyester and/or cotton or one that has foam in it? Is it important to pick a certain color/pattern for the cushion? Does the cushion get flat or dirty easily? Will the added on cushion cause problems such as arguments or fights between students? I am assuming that the school will also provide a couple of chairs for the teacher. Some chairs that do have a cushion will not be a good one. Do you also have a chair in the classroom that you added a cushion on top of the cushion that already came with the chair?

If youre working with younger grades, I think a cushion is def a must have on a rocking chair. I like to read and work with the kids on the floor instead of lecturing them from their desks. I find that I am on my rocking chair a lot and you def want to be comfortable so get that cushion! If you have a pattern in your room and you find a cushion to match great! If not, Id just go for a dark color so it doesnt get too dirty. If youre worried about kids fighting over sitting on the chair or not, dont let them sit there, unless you have a student of the day or something like thst.

Q:Do people still do this? As a teacher, sometimes the little 2nd graders can be loud and disruptive and can't quiet down. Do you like the quiet chair method? If not, what method do you use. As an example, this morning as I was teaching a lesson, a girl was constantly whispering to her friend so I simply said Mia, will you please go sit in the quiet chair? Not saying it doesn't work, but should I update my method?

Yes, it still is used. Quiet Chair is a nicer name than Time Out Chair and better understood by a 2nd grader. If you have the children together on a rug by your story chair, insist that all are quiet and ready to listen before you begin a story. Hands on own lap, voices off. Do this for lessons, too. If they talk when they shouldn't, give a warning. Then have child move further away if on the floor or move the desk a bit to increase personal space. Then the child moves to the Quiet Chair. Loud and disruptive is just not acceptable during lessons time. If this is a recurring problem, add a step to your morning attendance and calendar routine. Review the class rules - even if you have to do it every day for a week. Emphasize what you expect for storytime and lessons. 1-2-3- eyes on me, and a frequently repeated rule in my room, Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself. This is our expectation. That makes it more a matter of breaking the rule, not just making the teacher mad (which I try not to do). We stop and recite the rule to get back on track.

Q:Ok, My baby will be 2 months on the 2nd. Is it too early to buy her a high chair? if so, any suggestions for what brand? Thanks in advance!

I don't think you really need a high chair until she is starting solids which is not for at least another couple of months. However, there are booster type high chairs that strap to a chair and have a tray and everything just like a high chair. They're less expensive, take up less space, and are very portable. Some brands are designed for newborns and recline for that reason. I found mine at toys r us. The brand is Graco, I believe.

Q:I have a wicker set in my living room and I have a house cat that sits on the chair

I have microfiber couches and the cats have showed no interest in scratching them up. They also wear SoftClaws which are small caps on their front claws which prevents them from doing damage in case they do scratch. They sometimes leave tiny marks on the couch with their back claws but if I rub the couch a while with a cloth it goes away (at least if you rub the fibers all in one direction they are not visible). I also use a lint roller on the couch to get rid of fur (I didn't wanna get a gray-white-and beige couch! ;) ) Also get them lots of scratching posts of they are not declawed, then they will not want to scratch on your furniture. My cats have a scratching post in every room and they always use it. I have another couch which has rough fiber fabric - and they do like to scratch on that but it is very old so I don't care. Their claws snag in it and they like that feeling. So I wouldn't get any loosely woven/rough type fabric.
