Q:For my product design I have decided to make a skateboard but this means I'm going to need to build a skateboard press to make the deck . I was just wondering ow long you think that this whole thing will take because I have got about 4-3 months on it I already know my plan of action and how I shall make it but if you know any easier way to make the press that would be less time consuming that would be very helpful ! :) so if you could just give me a rough estimate of how long you think it will take to make thank you
I'm assuming your deck is over 2 feet long but less than 3? The cheap presses they sell at Harbor Freight tools (12 and 20 tons respectively) would supply the necessary pressure, but would focus all the force near the center area, requiring dies that would transmit that pressure outward. Perhaps a better way would be to stand 2 of these presses next to each other about 16 to 20 inches apart and lay the die crosswise between the two tables, actuating both hydraulic jacks at the same time or alternating strokes to get even pressure. Making the dies might prove to be the tougher task.
Q:I've been improving in other areas of weight lifting, but cannot seem to improve on my bench press. What exercise can I do to be able to lift more?
Do bench press at the start of your workout when you are fresh.
Q:I am having a consultation with one on Saturday?I don't know much about small literary presses? Can they sell on books on a national level? Can they do everything that a large literary press can do?What else do I need to know about a small literary press?
I am assuming you are having a consultation with them because they might be publishing a book of yours. Overall, small presses can do really great things. Some *can* and *do* sell books on a national level, but this has to more to do with their distributor than anything else. You should definately ask them if they distribute to the large book chains like Barnes Noble, Borders, etc. They can do most things that large presses can do, as long as it doesn't involve a lot of money. Often writers get more personal attention from small presses in terms of public relations, whereas a large publisher like Random House tends to leave new, small novels to fend for themselves. I can't really tell you any more about what you need to know, because I'm not sure what you need it *for*. Good luck with your meeting.
Q:I have to write and essay with multiple quotes from legitimate book sources on the effect of the Printing Press on the Enlightenment. I am saying that without the press, the Enlightenment would not have happened. Though I can use only one credible internet source, I can cite other web pages as long as the content of my quote can be found in a book somewhere. A little help finding these sources? I've used Francis Bacon's Novum Organum, but other than that, I'm totally lost. And any points I could write on would be great!
The printing press helped with the development of the English language. With the press, more texts were available to the public. With more texts available, literacy increased among the masses. Once literacy takes a foothold, you see advances across the board. I would do a search using key phrases with The History of the English Language. Once you have some titles to work with, you should check out the Project Gutenberg website; it has older texts available on-line for free. Once there, you can obtain quotes and information to cite. I hope this was a little helpful.
Q:ok so ive been told that pressed powder is great to oily skin and to get rid of shine but do u need to use a foundation first or is it meant to be applyed by itself i want to use to so by the end of the day there will be no shine ad it wont have worn off a bit, any recommendations in brand or info of how to apply thx
You can wear it on its own if you want. Depends on what you're looking for. If you just want to get rid of shine, and aren't worried about coverage (because most pressed powders don't have much coverage) then yes, you can wear it without applying foundation first. Some powders I liked were Maybelline Dream Matte powder, Hard Candy Welcome Matte (has zero coverage, but is really good at keeping shine away for long periods), Too Faced Amazing Face powder, and NARS powder foundation
Q:Will doing pushups hinder bench press gains?
From personal experience and observing my friends especially the ones in ROTC, I noticed that doing a lot of push ups doesn't necessary mean you can bench a lot or bench a lot of reps, but by benching a lot or doing a lot of bench reps will help with increasing your push up amount. Hope this helps.
Q:I need to know the definition of partisan press for my government exam, does anyone know what it is?
When the press is biased to one party in their information in their paper. Certain press are either considered liberal or conservative. Libs are Dems-Cons are Reps Ex- The Houston Chronicle is losing a lot of their readership because of the liberal partisan content.
Q:Does anyone know of a small press that accepts poetry manuscripts and fiction semi-based on a real life experience? What does everyone think of self-publishing? What does that cost the author (ball park figure)? Does Amazon and places like that get to sell your book? How would an author self-publishing get the book to be sold at a Barnes and Noble store? Trying to educate myself. Thanks!

Q:I am trying to become a Freelance Photographer and sell my photos to the local newspapers and other media organizations. I plan on taking pictures of crime scenes and different law enforcement / fire department events in my area.I've talked to a few people and they all told me that I would need a Press Pass. I am unsure as how to get one (I call the different newspapers and places like that and they say that they only issue them to their employees and are not for freelance photographers like myself). If I am a freelance photographer, do I really need one? If so, could I just create my own business and make my own press pass for that business?(I am in California, Los Angeles County)
When I was a newspaper reporter, we reporters used to laugh a bit at our friends asking us to get them a press pass. That was because, we felt, if you had to have a press pass, it wasn't going to do you much good. Yes, we all had press ID. But it was a point of pride not to use it -- just waltz up to the place or person and say, I'm from xyz news. How about that...(and ask your question.) But your situation is a bit different, I see. Okay, here's what some people in your situation (actually needing a press pass) did. We had a county press association, and when I was president, II made name cards for all the members -- even some who were freelancers like you. I think your idea of making yourself a news media with a blog is a good one. Print yourself up a card with your blog name on it, and your id for contacts -- name, phone#, email addy. I bet it would work -- make it _real_ official looking!
Q:I'm trying to read something and it says to press n to continue, but I only know how to press m being the first letter on the button.. how do I access the letter n alone to get access to continue reading?? Thanks
Press on the button 'M twice in quick sucession. That means once u press the letter m, press the letter m again quickly, it will skip to the next letter.. n James C
