- Q: Hi we are going on holiday to Brazil and staying at the Super Club Breezes Hotel in Costa De Sauipe where they have 220 v AC but while we are in Brazil we are planning on also visiting Rio and Iguassu Falls where we understand they have 110 v AC. What exactly will we have to buy and take with us so that we can use UK hair dryers, phone chargers and other assorted electrics. Thanks AJ
- The usual in most of the country is 110v. The only catch is the outlet plug, even though they use both, the 2 round ones or flat, the flat ones over there are exactly the same width, so it won' t fit US equipments which have one side wider than the other. Another problem is laptop computers, if yours has that third plug you will need an adapter. The best thing to do is buy an universal outlet adapter. I bought mine at a duty free shop for about ten bucks and I can use it world wide. But if your problem is also the voltage, you will need to buy an electric adapter to convert from 110 to 220v or vice versa(depends of what kind is usual in UK), which is pretty big and heavy to be carrying around.
- Q: hi i have a black glass tv stand which makes the dust very visible, i normally wipe with a cloth, but i don't really want to do this like every time it piles up with dust, is there a thing which removes dust automatically (please give me a link either OKorder or which supports pay-pal) thank you

- 120 volt / 60 Hz. Adapter kits should be readily available.
- Q: For the past week, IT has been making the worst of coffee. This morning, I told IT that: If you don't make a good Espresso today, after 5 years, I will replace you!I don't know what happened, but IT, made a wonderful Espresso, even if the little foam on top !! Good morning !!
- Glad to hear your machine responded to your plea! Mine definitely has a mind of its own as the strength of the coffee varies greatly even when I put in the same quantities of water and coffee each time.
- Q: How does electrical copper wires aid to temperature rise?! I don't think it is also associated with carbon emission as carbon emission mostly come from vehicles and manufacturing industry.
- It takes energy to send an electrical signal down a wire, and the longer the wire is, the more energy you will end up using as a result. So longer wire more energy wasted in the wire. As most electrical systems are powered by mains electricity, and they are in turn powered by fossil-fuelled power stations, longer wires more energy wastage more carbon emissions from the power stations. So, carbon emissions are lowered if shorter, and therefore less, wires are used. Also, copper has to be mined which causes local environmental damage as well as carbon emissions in the production and transport of the copper. as carbon emission mostly come from vehicles and manufacturing industry. The breakdown of carbon emissions is actually approximately 30% Heating, 30% Vehicles and 30% electrical power. As 30% of emissions are due to electrical power, clearly, using less electrical equipment would reduce carbon emissions, presuming that there is not a shift to fully renewable power generation such as wind and solar. EDIT: Spongebob, of course its a made up termwords don't just pop out of thin air you know. Still arguing against AGW James? We've moved on.
- Q: I dont understand how charged particles in the sky would effect the electrical system down here.
- It wouldn't. The earth has a magnetic field around it to protect it from such things. The solar flare would have to be bigger than our sun is believed to be capable of. You shouldn't worry about science fiction nonsense.
- Q: I know that B is flammable liquid and C is electrical equipment. thanks.
- It is for solid flammables such as wood and paper.
- Q: Dose that means amount of joules of energy consumed in 1 sec or an hour.
- watt n. Electricity ( Abbr. W ) An International System unit of power equal to one Symbol W. The SI unit of power, defined as a power of one joule per second.
