- Q:My father is a retired Air Force Air Traffic Controller and is still working in Okinawa as a Civilian on SOFA status (GS-12).I was wondering would it be possible for me to get a SOFA too??I had SOFA status before but I came to the US to attend a vocational school. Is it possible for me to get a SOFA again? I am 23yrs old. I do not have a BA or BS. Just a GED. If I can't obtain a SOFA would a Dependent Visa be possible to get?

- Q:Two of the sofa's in my house are in front of a window. My dog will not stop sitting on the top of the sofa's because he likes to look out the window! It's such a habbit, even when the blinds are shut and he cannot see out, he still is up there. Now I have indents on the top of both sofa's. I have tried every thing..yet the second I turn around, he climbs back up and plops him but down again! Moving the sofa away from the window is my last resort, but I really don't want to. Any ideas, I really would appreciate it!
- I used to have a dog that did this too! she knew she wasn't allowed on the furnature, and if we were looking she would not go. however, as soon as we left the room, we heard her tags jingling as she jumped on the sofa or bed. you can't get rid of a bad habit unless you are there EVERY time to correct it. otherwise, they just figure they can't do it when your around. I have 2 suggestions. my first and better one would be to either crate her or block off the room when you can not supervise so she can not jump on the sofa when you are not looking. if this is just not possible you can try what are called snappy trainers. these are modified mouse traps that DO NOT hurt your dog. when touched they just make a loud noise and bounce in the air. this way the behavior is corrected even though you aren't there. the problem with these is that A-some dogs just don;t care. B-you have to reset them or when she comes later they won't go off. good luck!
- Q:I have a light yellow sofa (not my choice!) and I've noticed within the 3 years that I have had it the colour is looking pretty grubby...!The covers are like a corduroy material. I'd like to wash the covers as soon as possible! Do you think it would be OK to put the seat covers and cushions in the washing machine? - We actually have done this, my friend's daughter at age two went wild with some maplesyrup, poured it all over the couch, think that there might have been some sibling rivalry there, as she just had a new baby brother....Anyway we stripped off the seat covers, zipped them up again and washed on cold water wash with some Zero....everything came up clean as new. We did the washer woman thing in the bathtub with the cushions, then dried them outside, the foam won't hold up as well in the machine. Dry them on their side to promote drainage, in the sun. Once everything is fully dry, open up and reassemble. Good as new.

- I have a 15 years old yellow retriever and he still eats leathers. He ate my leather boots, tones of belts, my new purse, my husband hat and wallet. I always wanted a sofa leather, but I am really afraid that when I get home I will find wholes every where, so I heard that there is a spray that you spray on leathers, shoes and whatever dogs like to eat and the smell makes then not wanting to eat it. It is non-toxic and safe to animals; just have an unpleasant smell that dogs can't stand. You can find it at a pet store. The product is order less to us, but it has a bad smell to them. If you don't want to find a surprise in home you could try it. I have no idea of the name, but I am pretty sure that the person who works at the pet store knows it.

- I would say leather. Since you need something that shouldn't keep smells, stain and wont wear out too soon, I think leather is right for you. It is also easy to clean... Fabric not so much. I really hope this helps =]

- well you probably at one time put the dog on the couch or played with it there maybe? My dogs get on all the furniture cause they are family members but to break one I did use mouse traps on the couch. they dont get into the traps but when they go off if they touch them it startles them and makes them think the couch isnt a fun place to be anymore.

- I highly recommend microfiber for a sofa. Microfiber is the best sofa material next to leather. Make sure it is 100% polyester so it will not fade, stain or leave water marks if you have to spot wash. It cleans with hot water but if the spot is greasy you can use a drop of dish washing liquid. I know of 4 versions of microfiber. The oldest version is easy to detect, it is not as soft as the newer versions. Depending on the style of the sofa select a version of microfiber that has the appropriate backing to hold the type of seam for the furniture. The newest version has a tiny stripe to hide all the fingerprints that shows on microfiber.
