dt has it correct, but I think your one silver colored bare wire off the fan is a Support cable (Steel air craft cable) this should be attached to the back of your mounting box IF it is a fan rated box.

You will need 4 wires to meet current electrical codes..2 black or red wires. (ungrounded conductors). 1 white wire. (neutral or grounded conductor). 1 green insulated or bare copper wire. (equipment ground). Both ungrounded conductors on a 2-pole, 30 amp breaker or fuse. A 30 amp, 250 volt rated receptacle is also required..The dryer will work with 3 wires, but is not up to code, because of bonding/grounding issues

Q:The spark plug wire on my dirt bike needs to be replaced because it was touching the exhaust and it burned through.I was wondering if the ignition coil and spark plug wire are one piece and need to both be replaced or is there someway to disconnect spark plug wire? They spark plug wire doesn't seem to be pluged in, but it seems to be one piece. Does anyone know?

Q:I had recently closed up an outlet by taking the four wires and capping them off. Only to find out the two of the wires were for the ceiling fan power. I have a black and a white wire newer travelers to the ceiling fan, and two old cloth wires which look black. I do have an electrical tester and just want power for the fan, I will cover up the outlet. What wires go where ?

Wire nut the old hot wire to the black and the old neutral to the white. Connect the grounds together also. Find which is the old hot with your tester. Not with your finger. Good grief.

Q:just need how u think it would be wired for like the whole circuite thingy

One wire has to be in a circuit that goes to the metal center of the bottom of the bulb and the other wire goes to the metal srew threaded part of the bulb. Then you cut one wire and put the switch in between the ends. The other loose ends of wires go to the battery.

Q:We added an AC to a preexisting sx 80 furnace and we are having a hard time wiring the new thermostat to the furnace, and the condensor to the furnace. Anyone know how to get a wiring diagram?? thanks

if you are using for phone, then you will just need to be concerned with green/red and blue/blue white for line 1 and yellow/black orange/orange white for line 2 line #1 greenblue/white redsolid blue line #2 (not required to connect if you only have 1 phone line) yelloworange/white blacksolid orange polarity is not important with modern telephone equiptment, so as long as G/R=BL-BL/W and Y/B=OR-OR/W then it does not matter if the striped wires are reversed from the list above... seeing your question again.... there is a wire missing, if you strip back the outer sheath of the wire you should find a black wire as well.... but green/red is the important pair for line #1

You can get the harness at WalMart or Best Buy. It connects to the aftermarket radio and then just plugs right in to the vehicles harness.....unless you already hacked it off. The thing only cost about $15.00 and makes the installation process a breeze.

Q:I thought plug wires were plug wires. I know there is a difference between coil pack wires and distributor wires. Do i have to use specific brands depending on vehicle?

All plug wires are not the same, coil pack wires are just fancy spark plug boots with a few components attached. Plug wires need to be for the specific application, length of cables and angles of the boots are designed specifically to each engine. As far as plug wire brands go, cheap quality wires generally only last a year or two even though they often have a lifetime warranty. Spending an extra 10-20 bucks will pay off in the long run. Some people life to use ac delco for GM products since it's the OE supplier, similar for other brands but it's not a major issue.

Q:i need 175ft of 110 wire how much does it cost?

Most all of the wire used in an average home will carry 110 volts. If you're looking to install some new recepts or switches, then most likely #12 wire would work just fine. At 175', you're going to use most of a 250' roll, which is the way most residential wire is sold. A 250' roll will run about $35 - $40 depending on where you live and whether you buy it at a wholesale electrical supply house or a retail store. Buying the wire by the foot will most likely cost about the same as the price/ft. for cut wire goes up.
