The rotation direction
Viewed from motor, the direction of the pump is anti-clockwise,that is the suction in the left, the discharge in the right.
The rotating direction of the type pump is clockwise, that is the suction in the right, the discharge in the left.
Also can move the driver to another edge according to the user’s requires. Then, the rotating direction, the suction and discharge direction is in the opposite as the described above.

- [with the car jacked up] Follow the rubber pipes coming out of the radiator. You should eventually find a metal device that is connected to your serpentine belt (fan belt). This device is your water pump. The purpose of the pump is to run cool water through the engine to cool it off. It needs to be replaced if it is making noise or if your car heats up too much. hope this helps! :)

- You didn't indicate from where the steam is originating. It could be from the radiator, radiator cap, coolant reservoir, cracked manifold, gaskets, hoses, etc, etc, etc, in which case, the water pump may have nothing to do with the problem (of course, a fault pump may CAUSE the problem, but, without more information, it's impossible to give you a specific answer). As far as how long water pumps last, it depends on the manufacture, whether it's new, used, or remanufactured, how much and how hard the vehicle is driven, etc etc etc. Generally speaking, a brand new water pump should last at least 10 years or 100,000 miles. - If you have no water at all, it is probably the pump. Check the circuit breaker for the pump before you do anything else. If the breaker hasn't been tripped, check the pressure guage (if there is one) near the well. If there is no pressure, it is definitely the pump. If the pump is operational (if it is operational, the guage will show a pressure reading), there could be a blockage in the pipe between the well and the house.

- if the water pump goes out then the car can over heat,and if it over heats too much the motor can blow.then you will have to buy a whole new motor.it's really not a big deal to fix..for you it will be,but for a mechanic its easy.here is a BIG tip for you....i'm a car guy i do this all the time...plzzzz do not buy the water pump from a mazda dealership,you will end up paying hundreds..go to a junk yard and get a used one they work just as good,and if you can go to a near by occupational center where they have an automotive class they only charge $20 if you bring your own part.....hope this helps

- The water pump helps with the cooling of your engine while it is running and your timing belt keeps the valves opening at the right time. If your timing is off you will ruin your engine and bend your valves. Changing it should help improve performance as long as it is done right.

- Water pumps should be replaced every 60K miles and the timing belt should be done at the same time. If your water pump hasn't been replaced in that long or longer I'd blame it having shaft play for your leak. The water pump is in the same area as the belts so it's definitely the most likely culprit.
