Q: I want to put down peel/stick vinyl tiles in my kitchen and bathroom. Both rooms have Vinyl flooring now and it's not damaged in anyway I just hate the colors. Can I put the peel/stick tiles on top of the existing floor or do I have to pull it up? Also should I use some sort of glue to add extra holding and will this kind of floor last or will it start peeling up in a few months?

Cheap solution to replace those expensive PERGO flooring cleaners. 1/3 part white vinegar 1/3 part rubbing alcohol 1/3 part water 3 drops diswashing liquid Mix this into a spray bottle and you have the equivalent of the Pergo floor cleaner. Just spray and mop; also great for deodorizing a room and for a fast cleanup. I also use this on my tile floors with great results. Pergo is better off when water doesn't sit on it too long, the alcohol is added to make it dry faster. And it won't leave your floor sticky either.
Q: I want to put a floating floor in my kitchen and I was told I had to put the floor down after I put in my cabinets
Say Whatt? they messin' with ya! Sit the cabinets in place to see what new limits may be hindering the proper placement of your floating floor. Like, will you need any bumpers on the edges? where will the stops be placed; above or below the surface!? Now if you want to add more cabinets to the floating floor you still can by measuring for their placement before any permanent mounting is done! (as in the prior cabinets I mentioned)
Q: The floors are brand new laminate floors, only about 2 months old. We just moved in here and our realtor told us to use Orange Glo to make them shiny. Biggest mistake I have ever made. It looked great at first but now the floors look like crap. They are hazy, no longer shiny, and collect dirt like you wouldn't believe. I just now used ammonia, vinegar, baking soda and water to remove the left over wax build up. It helped a little and right after I did that I went over the floors with Bruce laminate cleaner. I thought it worked really well until I walked over the floor and then looked back and saw my foot prints all over the floor. So my question is, why on these newly cleaned floors can you see my foot print where ever I walk and what can I do to stop that? Also, do you have any suggestions on removing the wax buildup? Thanks

my kitchen floor is linoleum, but its small. i just spray windex and go across it with a cloth. you should try a swiffer with the built in spray. they're great. they work on hardwood floors, too. you just press a button and cleaning fluid comes out right in front of the mop-type part.

Q: How do you remove excess vinyl flooring glue from the walking surface of a newly installed floor?
Paint thinner or mineral spirit. Once the glue is removed wash the area's with a mild detergent and rinse with clean water. Use a white cloth when wiping away the adhesive. Colored terry towels could bleed the dye using mineral spirit and/or paint thinner and could possibly ruin the floor.

Go to the local home improvement store . They have classes and even have videos you can borrow. Decide if you are going to use peel&stick vinyl tiles, or the real ceramic tiles with putty and grout. P&S are definately easier, especially for the first time user. Measure, then measure again. Get all the tiles at the same time, from the same dye lot, so your floor is the same color all over. Dont rush, this takes time.
