Q:dog has no balance on tile?
I think it is something to worry about, if he loses his balance he can easily hurt his foot or hit his head on something. Have carpets or mats around that has grippers below it, so its easier and safer for your puppy to walk/run on.
Q:Question about granite tiles...?
The tile will be cheaper, using a slab is always more expensive. Remember that the tile doesn't include the installation cost either. You can use it in the entryway just remember that granite is very slippery when used as flooring and caution must be taken. To get the best look out of granite tile for the countertop ensure that they are laid with very little grout space. Ensure you hire a good experienced tile setter one that has laid granite tile. You want them to ensure that the edges all have the finished edge. This will give you the best look, it's really not a big deal for an experienced installer. Don't use a wood edge and go for the tile, it will last longer and increase the value of your home more than formica. You can often find bullnose edge pieces to lay with your tile unless you are buying a rare granite.
Q:How do you keep your tile floors clean?
For my tile it depends on what color tile you have. I got white tile in my kitchen and i used a little bit of Pinesol mixed with hot water it cleans it good actually you can use that for all tile just a little big but make sure its dried. never used clorax unless you have just plain white tile. uses a little of that. steam mop is good but i use also the shark steam mop it also does the trick it is a faster way to get the job done you can buy that in bed bath beyond or Walmart.
Q:Uneven tile finish on walls?
From what I understand, I'd install either waterproof drywall or regular which you can then seal. You can shim the drywall out where the gap is with furring strips. This will give you a straight surface to put your tile on. This assumes the drywall butts into a corner. You can't put tile on an uneven surface as it just magnifies the unevenness. You might be able to put a molding on to cover the gap. That sounds the easiest and cheapest. Take a picture and show it to some one at a tile store or at a hardware store and they might be able to help.
Q:Can I tile my bathroom counter top around the existing sink?
You can do this any way you want but the proper way is to remove the sink this is not hard at all. The laminate will be easy to pry off it's just glued and if it has some age to it you can pry it very easily. If you really want the job to look great you should always do it right the first time. You will be proud of the job you did in the end. If your wash basin is held down with retainer clips don't worry you wont need them when you put it back just use some silicone caulk under the lip of the basin when you put it back in place. If you have more questions I will be glad to help just e-mail me with pics and questions.
Q:What kind of tiles good? How to look?
See whether the glaze with pinholes, spots, glazed texture, with or without color. 2. See if the tile is deformed. 3. Look at the ceramic tile water absorption. With water droplets on the back of the brick, the smaller the diffusion area, the longer the drying time, the lower the water absorption, the better the quality. 4. Listen to the sound, hand knock on the tiles, the sound the more crisp, the better the quality. 5. weigh the weight, the heavier the weight, the better texture
Q:Tiling over fireplace masonry?
You can attach tile directly to masonry, it has been done all over the world for centuries (Italy, Spain, Middle East all use tile on the exterior of buildings...) I would assume normal thin-set mortar would work, but I believe it would depend on the exact type of masonry- concrete block or clay brick. A thicker adhesive bed will likely be necessary to smooth over the rough surface, but because of the relatively porous surface of most types of masonry your bond should be excellent. My only word of caution would be if you have any cracks in the masonry. Make sure they are not active (widening and narrowing), which may occur with temperature and humidity swings. Either way, you may choose to weld the crack with epoxy to prevent any crack movements that may telegraph through your tile and crack it. Q:Sealing Porcelin Tile?
It should have been sealed otherwise stains will soak into it. Grout does have a shelf life. The stuff they used is old that's why it is gritty. The whole job needs to be redone to make it right. No matter what you do the grout is going to start breaking out. As far as the planking it needs to be taken up and the floor needs to be leveled before it is installed. Unfortunately there are people doing this kind of work that shouldn't be. Try filing a law suit against them. Edit There is a big difference between wall tile needing to be sealed and floor tile being sealed. Kitchen spills require a good sealer. As far s the woodwork a good installer won't break it.
Q:What is the loss of tiles?
The number of tiles and the paving process and specifications have a close relationship.
Q:Painted Cider-block fireplace now I want to tile.?
