Q:my old light fixture had 2 white wires (from ceiling) twisted together and connected to a screw, it also had a green wire (from ceiling)connected to it with a screw.no black wires were connected to light fixture although they are 3 wires in the ceiling taped off together.how do i test for hot wire, i got a tester that lights up.i got a new light fixture that has 3 wires, 1 wht 1blk and copper.i know the copper goes with green, white with white and black with black. so i untangled the black wires, and i connected one to new light.but now my new light doesnt turn off.so i know i by passed my switch.how do i test for hot wire....where does the hot wire go?is it possible one of the white wires is my hot wire and the other white whire my neutral....so help please, im confused and frustrated
get a voltage tester and test all the wires to th ground wire with the switches on that should let you know what is hot
Q:How do I wire MULTIPLE ones? I checked many sites and yes, I do get schematics, I've seen a billion schematics, but now I don't know how to actually put it together. My big question is, can I just solder two wires running from my 5V + terminal like that? Would there be problems? So if I have a 5V battery.
You can do this a number of ways. All of the postive terminals must be connected in some way and all of the commons must be connected in some way. This doesn't mean you have to connect each positive to every other postive, and likewise for the common. You have a few options: You can solder two wires to the positive terminal of the battery and run one wire to each load (device). You can solder one wire to the positive terminal of the battery, run this wire to the first load (device), solder another wire to the first load (device), connect this wire to the second load(device). You can solder one wire to the positive terminal to the battery, run this wire to the second load, solder an additional wire to the second load, and run the second wire to the first load. In industry, power wires are typically jumped from one device to the next to delivery power to each device that needs it. Basically, your power needs to go to each one. How you connect them is up to you.
Q:One hundred meters of a certain type of wire has a resistance of 7.2 Ω. What is the resistance of 2.5 m of this wire?I figured it would just be a proportion so (7.2 * 2.5) / 100 = 0.18 Ω. Is this the correct approach?
yes, it's a proportion. (2.5/100)7.2 = 0.18 ohm A little more analytical approach is dimensional analysis. I sometimes get proportions backwards, but dimensional analysis prevents that. 7.2Ω/100 m = 0.072Ω/m 0.072Ω/m x 2.5m = 0.18Ω .
Q:Ok. so i wired my cd deck into my 92 buick, but everytime i start the car i have to manually turn on the cd deck. i also have to change the settings everytime! and once i turn off the car the setting will not save and the setting will be lost. Now everytime i turn my car on i have to manually put the settings again! this did not happen in my old car! and i think it might be the wiring! Because the last cd deck i had did save the settings! and would turn thge cd player on everytime i turned on my car!! and it would play the track back, right where i left off. please help! i did attach the yellow cable wire the red cable to the battery current.? is there a problem!
You should have the yellow power wire connected to constant power and the red wired to ACC. You don't and this is why it's bahiving the way it is.
Q:I know that a fuse is connected to the live wire. And I was wondering; since a fuse and the circuit breaker are similar, would the circuit breaker also be placed so that both terminals of the circuit breaker are connected to the live wire? If not, would it be connected to a wire that connects a live wire and neutral wire?
The neutral wire is never connected to to a circuit breaker or fuse. It measures the current passing through the hot wire and opens if the current gets to high. Although the same amount of current passes through the neutral wire, an open breaker or fuse in that wire would let the load be connected to the hot wire but not to ground so you could bet shocked from it.
Q:I have a new light fixture I am trying to install. The electrical box has two sets of black and white wires coming in. Both of the black wires are connected together while the white wires from either set were used to connect the old fixture. How should I wire in the new fixture. The switch for this light has only one set of black and white wires connected to the light switch.
Identify the wiring so you have the power feed and the switch leg and then put some black tape on the white wire going to the switch. This should be connected to the black power feed and then the white from the power feed is connected to the white of the fixture and the black from the switch leg is connected to the black of the fixture.
Q:ok got the mute wire figured out thanks to yahoo answers people..now i was wondering what the [ ILL] WIRE IS FOR ,ILLUMINATOR FOR SOMETHING?..also which wires on the speaker wires are pos and neg one is solid ,one is solid with stripe..not sure which is pos or neg thanks alot steve
you ought to get an oem radio harness to motor vehicle adapter it comes with a twine diagram no guessing exceptionally user-friendly to do get at like walmart or close by factors shop or audio shop
Q:Am I able to do this? The wire burn the clay?
if you're using a clay like the 3 main Sculpeys (original Sculpey, SuperSculpey, and Sculpey III), you will especially want to use wire inside them (or use other kinds of armatures) in any thin or projecting areas since those lines of polymer clay are brittle after curing in those kinds of areas
Q:what does a #12 copper wire look like and waht does a #14 wire look like if you got pictures post a link thanks
go to a hardware store and look at the wires yourself....the numbers are printed on the wires....number 12 wire is the size of about 1/8 of a inch....number 14 wire is about the size of a heavy pencil lead......both these wires come in many colors......
Q:when installing two subwoofers to an amp, can just normal speaker wires work or do I need any special wires to hook the subs to the amp?
12 gg or 14 gg is ok for normal use for best performance use 8gg or 6gg wire depending on wether you are running them single or doubled up IE; Bridging amp amp+ to sp1+ amp- to sp1 - or amp+ to sp1+ to sp2+ amp- to sp1 - to sp2- Will give you 2 ohm if your amp is 2 ohm stable or Recommended for best sound Quality amp+ to sp1+ sp1- to sp2+ sp2- to amp- Will give you 8 ohm and Peak at 4 ohm at max power Are your subs single or dual voice coil
