Q:I am looking to remodel a mobile home that is 12x60. All the wiring was removed by the previous owner. I need a rough estimate on how much wiring this would take and the type of wiring. I would estimate that it has about 10-15 outlets that are mostly located towards the floor if that if useful info. I really have no idea about this and am completely clueless as to what to look for or use. Any advice would be much appreciated!
You're going to do this yourself? On the advice of crazy people, over the internet? Good luck. Or, how 'bout if you find a competent tradesman in your town that could help you? Maybe get competing bids, just to be sure. Please.
Q:I noticed when somebody uses the microwave my tv starts to make REALLY loud zap noises and a staticy bar rolls down the screen. The tv does it on its own sometimes and I thought I saw the hallway lights flicker a bit when it happened. If I flip on the bedroom light the tv does the same thing again or if I unplug something from an outlet on the other side of the room. I don't know why EXACTLY, I only know its wiring if you can explain further please do. Also, if an electrical fire happens what should I do? Obviously no water because duh but do I cover it in baking soda? I saw that a lot on different websites. I do not own the correct fire extinguisher so what else would I use? Thanks for any answers!
Sounds like a high-resistance connection (loose wire) somewhere, causing microscopic arcing, generating TV interference. For electrical fire, turn off the power. That removes the heat and the risk of electrocution. Then use whatever fire extinguisher you have for the materials that are on fire (water, baking soda, sand, smother with blanket, etc). Call fire department if you smell smoke or your smoke alarm is going off. They may have a thermal imaging camera that can see the heat caused by your electrical problem, if that's what it is.
Q:i have a main service panel that was probably installed in the 70s or 80s. there is a bus bar on the right side that all of the white neutral wires terminate into. (there is also a bus bar on the left side, that is totally empty.) there are no bare copper ground wires visible anywhere in the box. the circuits all run from under the crawl space into exterior junction boxes on the siding, then up through metal conduit into the panel. i know some of the circuits are older, but some were added just in the last couple of years, and were done with permits. so how and where might the circuits be grounded?
There has to be a ground or it wouldn't have passed inspection. Look for a copper rod in the ground around the front of the panel, or to a cold water pipe. That is how many are grounded.
Q:1/0 AWG. RADAFLEX ^ to 90C, 1580 strand count, 32 AWG wires. Knukonceptz ^ to 105C 5145 strand count 36 AWG wire Not a huge difference in C but a huge difference in strand count I was just curious to as how strand count and size effects current flow?
very little or no difference in conductance. Strand count primarily effects flexibility. A lead wire for a welder flopping around on a shop floor doesn't need to have the flexibility of a large cable being routed through the firewall of a car. Don't let anyone try to BS you with skin effect and why you need high strand count using very fine wires. Skin effect is only an issue in very high frequency AC transmission.
Q:electrical wiring for 90 ford broncoII?
Not sure the question. But if you are looking for a/c wiring a ranger with the same engine will have the same wiring diagram. Check local parts store they stock all kinds of engine books with wiring in it.
Q:I am running a new wire from the electrical panel to my flat panel tv. problem is there is a cold air return in the way. I am a bit worried running it across the bottom, in the basement, of the cold air return, seems like it would be a fire hazard. should I run it through conduit? if so what kind? flexible? metal? rubber? thanks.
romex is fine
Q:I have a ceiling fan with a light fixture attached and I accidentally cut the wires that go from the light fixture to the ceiling fan. Now the light is completely off but the fan is fine. However, there are wires hanging from the fan that spark when the fan comes on. Can I just buy some wire caps and be done with it?? Thank you!
It would be best if you could just wire nut the wires together that you cut. How did you expose the wires to cut them in the first place? Why?
Q:i broke my phone they only way i can fix it is if i know how to reconnect those really paper thin, tape like wires.
Are you talking about the ribbon cable? Did it actually break or just come unplugged? If it broke you will need to buy a replacement.
Q:I have been told that it can be but I. I think my friend is trying to scare me. I don't see the difference in the tape. grrrr
It's a bad idea. Duct tape is not long-lasting, electrical tape (comes in many colors) is. A quick fix when it comes to electricals is always a bad idea because people generally don't tend to fix things they think are good enough even when they really meant to. Best of all, use heat shrink tubing. If you don't see the difference between electrical tape and duct tape should you really be wiring anything?
Q:i am remodeling a bathroom. i see that the wiring is old. the main service panel was just replaced but the wires werent since i already have the bathroom walls opened up. i want to replace the wiring.the electrician said to use 12-2 wires for outles and 14-2 for light switches and fixtures.ok. i got that. ive been looking on diagrams that have outlets switches and fixtures and none of them tells what type of wire to use wheredo i need to bring two wires from the service panel up to the bathroom? one 12.2 and one 14.2?i have a VERY LIMITED space for more breakers and i dont want to have a breaker for just the outlet and a breaker for just the switch and fixture. i want to put the entire circuit into one breakeri read in some websites to never mix 12 wire with 14 wire. but that i should use 12-2 for outlets and 14-2 for switches. how can i do that?do i just use the 12-2 wire? also. the breaker i have for the bathroom i believe its 20 amp.
when did the code change? was the wiring for a bathroom always 12-2?
