Q:Can a mobile crane be used to lift heavy load and carry it to a different place?
For a lift the operator must know the weight of the object and the allowed angle of the crane (straight out horizontal may tip the crane). If the crane moves there is also a dynamic load (if the crane stops suddenly the load may keep moving and tip the crane). Therefore, only modest loads can be lifted and moved while outriggers are used for maximum lifts and to stabilize the base (on pneumatic tires?).
Q:Reason why some contruction cranes/wrecking ball cranes use tires.?
Shock absorption. The ball swings toward the building and hits, the energy of that swing is mostly dissipated into the building but also into the cable and cable connectors as the ball bounces back. That shock of the impact resonates and gets dissipated by the tire. It reduces wear and tear on the cable and cable connectors, also on the crane tower. Your car engine has motor mounts of the rubber type of material and it absorbs the resonating vibration of the engine. I have seen the cable connectors, interesting to say the least. The strands are interlaced sometime, and other times I see them clamped together. It would seem important to protect those joints. I do not know all of the crane business terminology, but that would be the gist of it.
Q:Stephen Crane short stories?
sorry, i haven't read any Crane short stories, but i'm a HUGE fan of his poetry. it's some of the most bleak, raw, yet honest poetry i've ever read.
Q:How can we attract Sand Hill Cranes to our bird feeder?
I give them black sunflower oil seeds along with chicken seed as we have chickens and ducks, They have just started to come and I am thrilled as I watched them do their jumping, dance, and expanding their wings Just beautiful. I also gave them bread crumbs which they devoured!!
Q:Hogan Hero Bob Crane was found murdered right? Did they ever solve the case as to who did it,or was it another?
Like George Reeves -- who is officially a suicide there are rumors but no convictions.
Q:Can anyone give me a summary of The Veteran by Stephen Crane?
The Veteran By Stephen Crane
Q:Reaction to Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes?
This book gave me lots of hope. I really loved to hear about Sadako and how she folded so many cranes. I wanted to believe that she would finish the paper cranes and she would get better. When she died in the ending it was very sad. Someone with so much hope and motivation doesn't deserve to die. The book also made me think a lot about why Sadako was sick in the first place. She was only two-years-old when the Americans dropped the bomb on Hiroshima, but she was still eventually killed from it. This book shows the long-lasting effects war has on a country and its people. It really makes you think twice about war. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was an easy read that I had a hard time putting down. Every chance I got I read this book! While it was sad in the end, it was great to hear about Sadako's life and how her friends finished her paper cranes for her. The plot was interesting and exciting. I really like the main character too. Sadako was a very brave, strong person that I wish I was more like. She woke up every day with the will to live and that gave me a lot of hope.
Q:How does a crane operator's knowledge of where the centroid is generally located for most uniform objects?
If an object is uniform, it's a fair bet the centre of mass will be at the centre of the shape. If lifting with slings, he will have them placed equidistant from centre, at an angle to each other not exceeding 60 degrees. He will then lift a little, and can tell by the angles from vertical of each sling whether or not the CM is under the centre of the crane cable. If not, he will lower the load, and have someone adjust the sling positions. Having slings equally loaded ensures a level load when lifting, and when a load is level it is a much safer lift than when it tilts one way or the other. A tilt would mean greater force in the sling on the low end. The load could slip out, or the excess force could break the sling.
Q:What points does Crane makes about Courage in The Red Badge Of Courage?
Please see the website below for much more information. There are many good notes about the book, The Red Badge of Courage. Chapter 11 Fear of Battle 7: The burst of courage that Henry feels is purely produced by the actions of those around him; he feels compelled to be like the idealized warriors he perceives the men in front of him to be. Yet, his internal doubt of being able to fulfill the social expectations that he feels ultimately holds him back from acting on this burst of courage. Chapter 12 Fear of Battle 8: With Wilson's newfound maturity comes an acceptance of battle, which is neither the quaking fear of the new regiment or the biting sarcasm of the veteran soldiers. This is the first glimpse of the true internal strength that Henry searches for within himself. It is a glimpse of something that does not surface often among the soldiers who have found it, for Henry sees that the veterans often cover up this internal strength with a cocky sarcasm that is both imposing and difficult to see through. Chapter 17 Fear of Battle 9: Fear of battle has perhaps given way to something more subtle; with Henry's acceptance of battlefield reality comes a more pervasive feeling of injustice that Henry felt on the previous day when he felt pushed along by his regiment. This feeling is one of a desperate helplessness, breeding an all-encompassing hatred. This sense of hate, ironically, helps Henry to achieve the storybook ideal of the warrior, and find inner peace.
Q:Are you good at winning stuffed animals from the crane machines?
I think my luck is pretty much as good as anyone else's. I do think it does depend on the machine though. Some of them are rigged to the heavens... I wasted a lot of money once. I felt really close to just about smashing that thing. But there was this one machine in Walmart that my ex boyfriend and I discovered... it was really creepy and freaked me out a little, but we won something every two quarters or so. Good stuff.
