- Q: i have one male and one female green anole i know how they breed and lay eggs but i don‘t know how to take care of the eggsim just askin before they breed so im ready
- The substrate should be 1:1 mass ratio medium to water. In the lab we use vermiculite with excellent success. If you want, you can incubate each egg independently in little baby food jars, or something similar. You do not have to incubate separately, but that way not all your eggs are in one basket so to speak. Place a layer of substrate at least the egg’s width in your container. When placing the eggs in the substrate make a divot with your finger then gently placing the egg in without rotating it. Rotating the egg can damage the fragile embryo. Close in the divot leaving half the egg exposed to the air. Finally place a lid or saran wrap secured with a rubber band over the top and incubate at 27C. Best of luck to you.
- Q: A couple of year ago I attended a Stone carving workshop. We made a mixture that consisted of plaster paris, cement and other ingrediants. This mixture was poured into a box and allowed to set. The end result was a soft stone that we then used for carving and making a small sculpture. I‘ve lost the recipe and wondered if anyone could give me one.
- for MTB, tire liners can be a good idea, Slime is OK but it does go bad after a while (see one of the other posts here) for Road, just accept that you will get flats and practice changing tubes so you will be quick when you need it
- Q: I have a 16 x32 Inground pool with steel walls and vermiculite bottom. I am getting a new liner installed tomorrow and the pool guy drained the pool yesterday. We are getting a lot of rain today and Im worried about the ground water affecting the bottom, like it is going to push out the vermiculite bottom. Is this something to be worried about? Also the pool guy says he is going to have the old liner ripped out and the new one ready for water in 1 ? hours. Is this possible? He thinks I have water leaking into the bottom underneath the liner already. Is that a big deal? Another thing he said was that he was going to cut in the main drain in the center of the deep end before they start to add water. I thought you had to put about 12” of water in before you cut the main drain in to insure that it is seated properly and the liner stretches correctly. Anyone who could ease my mind on some of these questions, your knowledge would be appreciated.
- vermiculite
- Q: my leopard gecko just laid her eggs last night.i have done a pile of Research but the one thing i was wondering is how do i know if i have the vermiculite moist enough or too moist??? and how do i moisten it once the eggs are in it. o and one last thing should the eggs be covered over with vermiculite? thanks!!
- Best Way To Evenly Moisten Your Vermiculite Is To Hold Some In Your Hand Soak With Water And Then Squeeze The Excess Away, Use Some Pearlite Under Your Vermiculite To Absorb The Water Keep The Humidity Up, And The Eggs Should Not Be Covered, Just Leave The Top Of The Egg Protruding From The Vermiculite
- Q: All I have is miracle grow and Ive seen cacuts growing out side here where I live but I would like an experts opinion. Help Me Please
- Succulent soil would be the easiest to use. But if you want to use your Miracle Grow buy a small bag of perlite and mix it in about 50/50 with the Miracle Grow. Perlite is a light-weight rock and will give the Miracle Grow a texture more to the liking of succulents. Vermiculite holds water, so don't use that.
- Q: If I want to repot a houseplant to a bigger container, what kind of soil do I use?
- t would really depend upon what type of plant it is. Some house plants need less water, so you should use a sandy potting soil or ones with a lot of vermiculite in it. Succulents and cacti need sandy soils that drain well, for example. If it's a plant that needs a lot of water, you should chose one or create one that has more clay in it. If it's a plant that needs extra feeding, such as a heavy bloomer or a heavy foliage plant, there are potting soils with extra fertilizers in it. Also, different plants need different amounts of certain fertilizers like magnesium or pot ash or nitrogen. Too much of these for your plant can burn it. Too little can cause poor growth. The amounts of magnesium can also change the colors of the blooms as well. And some plants need more or less acidic levels. Azalea's need different amounts of acids than other plants, for example. African Violet's need more acid as well. Potting Soil Plus Fertilizer would probably be the best answer, unless the plant you are transplanting needs low fertilizer, in which case a general purpose soil mix would be best. And that doesn't even take into consideration whether it is an aquatic plant, in which case it would need an aquatic soil mix and need to be covered with pea gravel to prevent fish from uprooting the plant or from contaminating the water and causing an algae bloom.
- Q: is my bearded dragons egg gunna hatch soon ?
- I hope Snidely's not doing the setting when those eggs hatch. Otherwise those poor chicks will think he's the mommy. They may never get over the trauma. Good Morning
- Q: What do i do if my beaded dragon has babies and plz tell me the thing i need if she dose have them HELP!!!!!!!
- i agree with the person below, but make sure that your breath is banana flavored before doing so
- Q: I found great composite wood look heavy duty snap together raised beds at sam's club very reasonable, but now have to fill them with soil. Square foot gardening book recommends 1/3 coarse vermiculite, 1/3 peat moss and 1/3 compost - I'm worried this will dry out very quickly in our Florida sun and am tempted to use at least a good percentage of Miracle grow garden soil Does anyone have experience with quot;Mel's mixquot; soil and can you tell me if it dries out rapidly? Our prime gardening season (fall) is coming up and I plan to be ready with my new raised beds! The beds will be in mostly sun and placed directly on the ground.
- I think that most garden stores sell it already mixed into potting soil, so that is the way most people buy it.
- Q: my corn snake was with a male during the month of february. she is back in her own tank now. i think it was may when she laid a couple of clusters of eggs. i caught it too late and the eggs didnt‘ make it. well, it is july, and my corn snake has been laying individual eggs for the past 24 hours. why is that? do you think that there will be babies?
- Many females double clutch and usually will lay a second clutch around the time that the first clutch would have hatched. Such as now. It's possible that these eggs are indeed fertile and as such should be incubated. Cornsnake eggs are not particular about much and can be incubated in a plastic tub with perlite or vermiculite as a medium and placed in a warm spot that averages around 80 degrees. I recommend perlite over vermiculite as you have less chance of accidently putting in too much water and drowning eggs. Enough water should be placed in the perlite to allow it to clump together if you squeeze it. Holes are not required in the lid as eggs use very little oxygen. If you feel you need to, you can open the lid a bit every week or two to allow fresh air in. Bury the eggs (if they are clumped, leave them like that) so that they are almost completely covered. Do not turn eggs! They must remain in the aspect they were laid or you will kill the embryo. Place on top of a t.v., stereo, a high shelf where it's warm and leave them alone. After about 64-72 days they should hatch, depending upon the temperature they stay at. I incubated mine at 80 degrees and they hatched between 64-69 days with 100% hatch out. Second clutches aren't always fertile though, so you might not have anything. Slugs look small, slimey and yellow. Fertile eggs are white and dry. If you're not certain, incubate them all and remove any that mold completely.
