- Q: I have a new light fixture I am trying to install. The electrical box has two sets of black and white wires coming in. Both of the black wires are connected together while the white wires from either set were used to connect the old fixture. How should I wire in the new fixture. The switch for this light has only one set of black and white wires connected to the light switch.
- Identify the wiring so you have the power feed and the switch leg and then put some black tape on the white wire going to the switch. This should be connected to the black power feed and then the white from the power feed is connected to the white of the fixture and the black from the switch leg is connected to the black of the fixture.

- The two small wires are positive and negative. Most are color coded and if it's a OEM part, the negative will be the same color as the group of smaller wires connected to the negative battery cable. Each manufacturer uses different color codes and for instance, Kawasaki uses black with yellow stripe. The other wire will go to the positive side. If the coil doesn't have wire coming out if it, it may have a + or - sign by the terminals. In actuality, it doesn't really matter which way you hook it up because a coil doesn't really care which way the electricity travels. It's the collapsing magnetic field that creates the spark and not the direction or movement of electricity.
- Q: have black (hot) and 2 whites from the house. Got Black,green.blue.and white from the fan. Any clues on how to wire this? There is a light switch involved. I know to match the colors but what do with the blue (light) wire is beyond me.
- Mark is Correct except for one thing that caught my attention: you said you have 2 White Wires and 1 Black Wire coming from the house.....WHY 2 White Wires and only 1 Black, Doesn't add up Correctly, unless one of those White Wires was marked with a piece of Black Tape to identify it as a second Hot Wire which would then be used to separate the Fan Motor from the Fan Light by each having its own separate power source.......Be Careful!!

- Are you in the United Kingdom? That’s the impression I get from the ceiling wire colors you described. Under the old British standard, black is neutral and red is hot.

- if you have an rca tv which works with 12 volts.......if the wires not connected to battery...there no problem. if connected to battery....the fuse blows.(close to battery on wire)....if there is no fuse....wires burn...risk of fire....do not forget...every device works with car battery MUST and MUST be eouipped fuse .

- the wire you have is designed for 1 line only. Back in the day the yellow wire was used to carry ground because ground was necessary for old circuits. Ground is no longer needed so in order to get two lines you need at least a two pair wire (meaning four wires) you might have to run a new wire unfortunately or just keep that one and run another to separate jack.
