Q:Tile Paint?
if you painted right over ceramic tile it should come off with a razor blade scraper -- if the paint is in the grout you may never get it off there-- not sure what type of paint you used -- some oil paints can be removed with laquer thinner or paint thinner ---
Q:White Tiles With Grey Spots?
Tile won t stain under normal circumstances so I suspect the glaze is a bit worn off rt in front of the fridge.. That can be a wet spot that will dry eventually or stain the tile body in which you have no choice but to r and r the tile(s).. GL
Q:Wall Surface for Tiles?
You need to purchase some grout remover, you can find this at any place that sells tile. Then you need to get a container of drywall patch and spread it on with a puddy knife, then re- sand.
Q:does anybody know anything about laying ceramic tile?
depending on the size of your bathroom. dont use them 1x1 tile you spen more time cleaning them things more than when you lay them down. 4x4 tile are mosly common in you average home. mainly on the walls. the flooring would be great with 10 by 10 tile. a dimondblade tile saw will be easier to work with on cutting tile. but i would also go with single tiles. some tiles with the mesh sometime dont stick good specialy natural stone tile with mesh is a nightmare but are pritty nice tiles. according to what i've worked with so far.
Q:Ceramic tile choice: Did I make a mistake?
its cheaper tile, but lowes discontinues most tile after two years or so. hope you bought enough tile for the job(20% more than you need).
Q:How to re tile my kitchen floor?
It's super easy to put down the peel and stick tile. When you get to the corners you can cut the tile with a carpenter's knife or a really sharp pair of scissors. Just make sure you keep the lines straight and it should turn out great. Also, there's this stuff you can buy at Home Depot that you have to put on the old tiles first or the new ones will not stick. Just go in and tell one of the people that work there what you are doing and they will lead you to the right stuff. Just buy a disposable mop to paint it on with and then when it dries lay the new tile on top. It only costs about $5.
Q:Can you use vinyl stick tiles like ceramic tiles?
Vinyl tile you use glue. Some have the glue adhesive on the back, some you have to put the glue down your self with a 1/8 or 3/16 trowel. And like the other person stated they are very thin, meaning if you did try and set them in mortar and one little piece of mortar didn't mix good after a few weeks of use and maybe not that long that will create a lump and eventually ware through your vinyl. Don't even think about being able to grout. Now I have used glue with ceramic tile in certain cases. I don't recommend that either though. I use liquid nails or a pl 400 type glue in a tube to do risers on a stairway but the treads I used mortar. If you go to Home depot or Lowe's and pick out what type of flooring they should be able to lead you in the right direction on the glue vs mortar. good luck. you can do it
Q:what roof tile should I use?
You can find different shapes of tile roof like roman, tegula, tower and flat. All these shapes make it possible of overlapping and interlocking of tiles very well. These types come in vivid varieties. You can find one that are generally made from ceramic and concrete roofing materials. You can also have a good choice of multiple colors. You can easily coat these colors on the surface. You always need to consider what kind of roof tile you are going to use if you are concerned about color. For example, color of cement tile is not appropriate for protection of tiles. After some time you will find that the color of tile is going to be subdued. Whole appearance of your roof will be totally changed. But if you try to use Terracotta then it won’t fade easily.
Q:Hard tiling question.?
If you are tiling a 2 * n rectangle with 1 * 2 tiles, you would line up 1 tile along the end measuring 2, then, becasue the other dimension of the tile is 1, you would need n tiles For 2 * 2 tiles you would do the same thing except that each tile would cover 2 units of the side that is n units, so you would need n/2 tiles
Q:do i have to use backer board to tile backsplash?
No you don t have to, since this is really classified as a non wet area. I know you ll splash some water there but the basic tile will take care of that. You won t hurt a thing replacing the sheet rock with it but you don t need to. To tile a vanity top, secure ( glue and screw) 3/4 ply or 2 -1/2 ( cross the ply graining for strength ) ply to the counter top. Properly thinset and nail down (or screw down)1/2 cement board to the ply with proper length galvanized nails or screws. Thin set down your tile and grout after 24 hrs. Then re set you plumbing. I ve done a couple 100 over the years and not 1 failure going over the dry wall in this type of non wet area.. Wet areas such as tubs and showers I ve always used a cement backer board ..
