Q:Do they manufacture steel buckshot?
I know of no one who makes steel buckshot. Probably for several reasons. Steel is much lighter than lead. Penetration depends on energy, which is the weight of the pellet vs. the velocity of the pellet, equated into ft.lbs. Steel pellets have to travel much faster to achieve the same energy as a lead pellet. Steel, being lighter, would lose energy much faster downrange. The weight difference would be like teeing up a golf ball, and striking it with a club, and teeing up a ping pong ball and striking it with a club. The distance in flight would be obvious. Steel also, is much harder than lead, and would be hard on the barrel, and choke. It also would not deform, which would cause ricochets. Steel shot was a handicap for waterfowler's when the USFWS made non toxic shot mandatory. Waterfowl are bottom feeders, and they were eating the spent lead pellets, and dying from lead poisoning. Steel shot cut the effective range of a shotgun from 45 yards to around 35, and resulted in many cripples and lost birds. Environmetal, makes a T size shot which is .20 caliber, and is called Hevi-shot. Lead is heavier than steel, and Hevi-shot is heavier than lead. At the same velocity, you have 12 to 15% more energy than lead. and probably 20% better than steel....Hope this helps
Q:A simple question: Corten steel?
Weathering steel, best-known under the trademark COR-TEN steel and sometimes written without the hyphen as Corten steel, is a group of steel alloys which were developed to obviate the need for painting, and form a stable rust-like appearance if exposed to the weather for several years. Overheating ? It's not possible for a metal to get hotter than it's environment unless there is a source of radiation. The sun shining on a metal will heat up a bit, as will any material, but the amount is small and depends on the surface reflectivity. Define what you mean by overheating. .
Q:what types of stress require steel to be placed in footings?
Steel is always added to concrete to handle local 'tension' stresses. (Sometimes to provide extra compression in 'pre-stressed' applications, but the steel is still in tension.) Steel would be added to the lower section of footings to stiffen them to 'bridge' local 'soft spots' in the substrate.
Q:Comparing the speed of sound in air, water, and steel?
Sound Speed In Water
Q:AR 15 223 AMMO brass vs steel?
The primary complaint about wolf steel cased stuff besides it being dirty is that is wears out the chamber and extractor faster than brass. That is not true. It would be true if the cases were actually steel instead of a mixture that has a hardness that is close to brass. Now to prove how pervasive this myth is I expect a minimum of 4 thumbs down for this statement alone. In any case the only issue is that is you do use steel cased ammo the chamber has to be better cleaned. The residue left behind from the coating on the steel casings will build up. If you keep firing the cheap steel cased stuff this tend to be less of an issue but when you use brass cased ammo without cleaning the chamber out or in the same session once it heats up the stuff will actually grip the brass tightly causing case head tears. And your only option is to wait for the gun to cool down yank it out by hand because at that point the casing is in essence glued into the chamber.
Q:Why nickel makes stainless steel non-magnetic when nickel itself is ferromagnetic?
Steel is magnetic because of the alignment of the spin in the electrons of the atoms in the crystaline matrix of the steel. Nickel atoms are not the same size as Iron atoms and Chromium atoms. by having several different sizes of atoms in the alloy, it prevents a uniform crystaline matrix from being formed. If you imagine a box of marbles that are all the same size, they will all settle into a regular pattern in the box. But a bunch of mismatched marbles will be jumbled together in irregular patterns. This prevents the magnetic properties of either element from asserting itself.
Q:Steel Clutch Vs. Transmission?
First of all it's not really a steel clutch..it is called a sintered iron clutch disk... a sintered iron clutch has a very aggressive amount of friction and is generally only used in racing application because of this...also it is ushually a non sprung disk. all of these factors = a very abrupt ingagement of the clutch which will shock the driveline very badly...say he's making 400hp and has really sticky tires..there is bound to be a weak link between the engine and the tires, in a factory driveline this would probably have been the clutch(it would slip) but since he has upgraded it he has now found the next weekest llink..in this case the transmission, he either needs to look into a beefier box or not launch the car so hard.
Q:What are the best kind of steels for a knife?
That one they use for the Army Combat Knife, I forgot what its called but Its a good one if your going to use it for camping.
Q:what is the elastic limit of steel in Nm^2?
It is the Yield Strenght that you are looking for...that is another word for elastic limit. AND, for steel, it does depend on the variant of steel. Not all types of steel are identical, since steel isn't a pure substance. For Young's modulus (and other stiffness properties), just about all variants have the same values. However, for strength properties like Yield strength and ultimate strength and fatigue strength, it does depend on variant, and is precisely why different recipies exist in AISI standards.
Q:how to start fallout 3 broken steel?
Sorry, all three above are wrong. Once Broken Steel is downloaded via windows live it's supposed to start automatically, but if it's not then one should launch Fallout 3 from the Fallout3Launcher.exe and in the Data Files section checkmark Broken Steel before hitting Play Game. Then, if you've done everything right, no matter if you're first level stuck in Vault 101 or 20th level playing for 69 hours, in about a minute or so a message will appear saying that Broken Steel is installed and that your level cap has been raised from 20 to 30. Even if you don't proceed through the main quest to the new Broken Steel quests, Broken Steel content will still appear in your game, from Supermutant Overlords with Tri-Laser Rifles to Albino Radscorpions, they're all out there in random encounters. Broken Steel is how the game should've been released from the beginning if Bethesda had any conscience, but now that we've got it, enjoy it.
