Q:I can't knit, and hate artificial fibresOddly, some people who know me fairly well got me a kit with acrylic yarn and a knitting pattern for a baby outfit blanket(I'm pregnant.)I thanked them, noting, though, that I couldn't knitI wrote something to the effect of 'It's an intimdating box!' And got a reply expressing happiness that I'd liked the present.AnywayIt's likely going in my pile of quot;stuff that will end up at the baby consignment store.quot; But what do I say about the baby being minus a knitted jacket c? The odds are excellent that it'll be asked about.
Silk or satin blankets wouldn't be very warmSheets are made from them, not blankets.
Q:My baby is going to be born in Dec I want to know how much and what I should have regarding baby clothes and blankets
In newborn size I'd have 4 or 5 gowns or sleepers, or a combo 4 or 5 undershirts or short sleeve onesies 2 or 3 long sleeved 2 or 3 pants 2 light sweaters or cardigans a bunting for outside 8 or so pairs of socks, all the same for your convenience warm booties 6 or 8 receiving blankets (bigger ones are better for swaddling) You want to be able to layerDon't get too many nb outfits in case your baby is big, you can always get more laterGet easy to put on and off stuff, made from natural fibersAlso buy a few things in size 3-6 months for when baby growsSome babies fit 3-6m stuff at birthdefinitely get a sling!
Q:I'd like to dye some organic woven cotton fabric to achieve shades of seafoam green and pastel green (aka baby blanket mint green) ,Any clue on how to achieve this? I was cleaning out my copper wand with a white cotton cloth and it turned blue-greenSo it's gotta be possible. No chemicals please: unfortunately I'm deathly allergic to that( Thanks for your input with links if possible.
non-gel toothpaste helpsmight clear it :P
Q:On the second story of my home i want to add a outlet box to a wall for a new flat screen i want to mountI have access to the attic above and the attic has all the wiring for the rooms that lead to the basementCan i add a new outlet to the wiring in the attic above or will the wire need to be added to the circuit breaker box in the basement ? I want to fish a wire from the attic into the wall were the new outlet will be added for the TVi don't want to rip out the drywall to add the wire so fishing it through the attic down the wall is the best optioni want to add this new outlet to the wiring all ready in the attic can it be donei don't want to add anther breaker to the basement unless its necessary. If you need info on the wiring in the attic i will add some if you ask.
My brother had a black lab about 5 years agoPrince was the runt of the litter and turned out to be the biggest dog of the groupWith a little work that Prince was the best bird dog I've ever seenIf you let him out when it was still dark, he'd be right up in the back of the pickup ready to go to the duck blindHe'd sit as still as could be until he heard that gun fire then it was ON!!!! I remember one day we went hunting and didn't see a single birdWe had the hardest time trying to get Prince out of the duck blind:) The dogs have alot of heart and with the right training(TLC.nothing professional) they can make a great retriever and a great friendWhen Prince was almost 3 years old we had to put him down because.get this.he had cancer(I had NO idea dogs could have cancer).
Q:If there are any other better places in Navada please let me know
On the other hand, you could try lifting a can of fruit cocktail or minnestrone, which come in galvanized steel cansAn internet search on electromagnet will get you lots of pictures, diagrams, and construction plans for simple electromagnets.
Q:So, my mom has tried for about 23 years to teach me to knitNow that i'm a mom, i've picked it up and wished I'd listened and showed a bit more interestI can do a basic stitch and have no problem knitting a blanket or pot holderProbably could do a scarf too but when its never cooler fhan 70, not very practicalAnyhow, I don't know how to read patterns, and I'm bored with a basic stitchCan anyone point to some free web sites that help teach or instruct on learning more than the basic casting on and basic stitch?I would really like to make my mom something for Christmas as she doesn't know that I picked up the needles againAny suggestions? Thanks!
i would add felt because it keep the cold in
Q:A great friend of mine has been helping me out a lot lately and I want to knit a combinations of scarves I know he likesThe perfect scarfI need suggestions for a really, really soft worsted weight yarn.I suspect the scarf will be worn more inside than out, so the yarn doesn't have to be weather proof really at all. Thanks!
I have gone overboard this year for my early two year old so, he has so many presents, I have spent around ?250 on him, way too much, I'm an impulse buyer and when I see something I'll think he'll like i buy it, I also think it's because he's my first child and I don't know when to stop buying for him, next year I think I will keep to a much tighter budgetAnyhow what have I got him, I have bought him Elmo Live, Little People Garage, a big tonka truck, Mr Potato Head (thought this would be great for teaching body parts and where they are) A learn to Dress Noddy doll, Megabloks bucket and lots of stocking fillers like puzzles, crayons, paper to colour, books, little people accessoriesLuckily his birthday is in February so I can keep some back for then and even give him some throughout the year
Q:I will soon be running wire for a heat pump I am having installedI need to run 2 6-gauge thhn, 1 10-gauge thhn wires in a conduit from the panel to where it will be hooked up to the furnaceI have a fair bit of electrical experience just not running something like this before.I'm wondering how this is generally done and have a few questions- What size conduit would be best to accommodate those wires? - Would installation in the attic or crawlspace be better? - If in crawl can i strap the conduit to the bottom for the rafters? Then go up into the rafters to cross a support wall in the center of building?- If in the attic can i run it over the rafters with out issue? and the same go down into the rafters cavity?I can easily install it either in the attic or the crawlspace but was not sure if there normals of how its installedThanks in advance!
Fiberglass is the bestYou can either go with batts or loose fill, which is blown in14 of loose fill gives you R-38, as does 13 of battsHope this helps.
Q:What are the warmest and heaviest comforters? I do get cold at nightI do not live in a cold climate area such as North Dakota, but please assume I do, anywayThis is for a queen sized bed.
The warmest would be downThey aren't heavy, but are great at trapping heatHowever, they are hard to care for and typically expensiveIf you get one, use a duvet cover that can be removed and washed, to cut down on cleaning the comforterQuilts are heavier and excellent at keeping you warm, and any fiber-filled comforter should do an adequate job (you could double up and use two, also)For serious warmth, you could get a sleeping bag rated for very cold weather, fully unzip and use that as a comforter (maybe with a bedspread to cover it)When I lived on a primitive farm with only a wood stove for heat, that was what I usedI used to have a heated soft-sider waterbedAfter 12 years of sleeping on that, I found I could not tolerate my new, cold bedI bought a heated mattress padI turn it on a half-hour or so before retiring, and the bed is toasty when I turn inAn electric blanket would work similarlyWearing flannel pajamas or sweats to bed will also help keep you warmI always wear full-length flannel gowns in winterCouldn't live without them! I also use flannel sheets rather than cotton or percaleMuch cozierHope my suggestions help!
