Q: Is there a vacuum out there it is a certified air purifier? I recently learned that vacuums blow out dust, even ones with expensive hepa filters leak some form of bacteria into the air.I'm looking for facts only, not opinions. Sources preferred.: Any vacuum cleaner you want like that is going to be pricy. And usually when my vacuum cleaners start blowing dust, either a filter needs to be changed, a hose is clogged, or the dust catcher- whatever form it might take- needs to be emptied. I understand that Rainbow Vacuums, while cumbersome, are very good at controlling blowing dust because of the way they work. Try running a web search on hospital-quality vacuums: Those have to be very good at controlling dust because of where they''re used. Good luck!

Q: I have 6 cats and need a vacuum cleaner that the filter is not going to stop up every few minutes. I have gone through 3 bagless vacuum cleaners in the last few months but they have been vaccums from walmart like eureka and such. We recommend you vacuum your high traffic areas daily, and wall to wall (under furniture etc) on a weekly basis. Periodically, you should have your carpet professionally steam cleaned using a truck mounted hot water extraction method (steam cleaning). Depending on how many people and/or animals live with you, this should be done every 3-12 months. As far as bugs are concerned, vacuuming and steam cleaning will help some, but no cleaning method can guarantee 100% removal. If you have a serious flee problem or something, you need to contact your exterminator before you do anything. Dry soil is abrasive and needs to be removed regularly to avoid causing wear patterns in your high traffic areas.

Q: I have two upright Vacuum Cleaners, a 1997 Hoover Turbopower 2, and a 1979 Electrolux 502S, and was wondering how long the drive belts usually last ? On the Turbopower, I had to change the original belt about 3 months ago, as it was starting to slip, which means its belt lasted about 14 years. Is that normal ? Or was it incredibly lucky to last so long ?As for the Electrolux, it obviously doesn't have the original belt, and since I only got it 2 days ago, and didn't ask the previous owner when she last changed it, I have no idea how old it is, only that it still works fine.: If you had an Orek I'd say about 3 months. Any pressure on the belt from dog hair on the brush bar would rip the belt. If you don't have long haired dogs or carpets/rugs that have loose threads that can wrap around the beater bar, straining it's movement and thus the belt, you could easily get several years out of a belt. Fortunately more are inexpensive and once you learn the trip on how to replace it, easily done.....especially the Orek...I had plenty of practice.
