- Q: Greetings, all! I am currently cleaning my room, as in looking for dust spots and trying to sweep it up. I tried vacuuming, but my bird got scared and jumped to the bottom of the cage, so I figured to get a little birdhouse to move him while I did it. I also cleaned the lamp that I was using to give him light at night, and I accidentally swept too fast, I saw the particles rise around the cage. I got so worried. Should I be worried? Or is it only a large accumulation that could damage the bird? What can I do?Thanks in advance!
- Your kidding right? People have owned, raised, and dealt with conures for centuries. How do you suppose they cleaned thier homes? There was or is no technique special for pet birds, you just clean. Common sense will or should guide you however when spraying chemicals or getting the vacum hose too close to your bird, now I'm kidding.
- Q: Can you improve a vacuum cleaners suction (with tweeks) or filteration (by adding aditional filter)?
- Well if you can you would probably be a pretty good engineer. I would keep any existing filters cleaned regularly and if you are using a bag They tend to have better air flow when first installed(empty). You didn't mention what type or for what purpose. If you are cleaning carpet you need agitation, air flow, and suction. Setting it too low would cut down on air flow. Too high would increase air flow but you would not get the suction down where you need it. You might get some better answers if you add details.
- Q: Everytime I run it, it omits this foul odor?? My dad thinks it's normal, but he's a hillbilly. I KNOW it's not normal. I must know what it is.
- You may need to change or wash the air filter, empty bag often. You don't say what type of cleaner it is so it's hard to give a proper answer. If it's like a burning electrical smell then it may be the wiring or the motor. try the above first if that does not work take the cleaner to a repair place.
- Q: They are so dangerous. Vacuum Cleaners with cords are dangerous becauseYou can trip over the cordYou can get suffocated by the cordYou can lose extremitiesOr even worse...DeathI wonder why vacuum cleaners with cords are still being made. They are very dangerous, and it takes forever to vacuum with them because they cause people to trip or get caught up in the cord. There should be a law that makes it so that no more vacuum cleaners with cords can be manufactured after February 17, 2009-just like the DTV law. What do you think about these death trap vacuum cleaners?
- Of all the things in the world to worry about, killer vacuum cleaners are pretty low on my list. Besides, the rechargeable kind don't have enough power to clean well. On the other hand, I generally despise cleaning and other household chores. A great way around the need to vacuum is to install hardwood floors. Of course, then you have to sweep or swiffer, but this is generally a less onerous task. I think will join you in your cause. DEATH TO VACUUMS! DEATH TO CARPET!
- Q: Who vacums when its pitch black???
- Lighted vacuums are like Heineken some commercials - reaches the underparts that other vacuums don't reach. Having a light on a vacuum is advantageous when you want to vacuum those dark corners where normal light can't shine. They scare away the shadows too. If you *do* try to vacuum in darkness with one of these, the lights only give you a few inches of light, so in my opinion, there's no real point in having them except for decoration.
- Q: They are just sitting around my bedrooms. How do I hide them away?
- It's amazing how often people are experiencing the exact same problems right at the same time. I was just pondering the same thing, living in a tiny apartment I don't have much room but found a little storeaway in the kitchen.. so ugly having it sitting in my bedroom..
- Q: When were wet/dry vacuums invented?
- Daniel Hess of West Union, Iowa invented a vacuum cleaner in 1860, calling it a carpet sweeper instead of a vacuum cleaner. His machine did, in fact, have a rotating brush like a traditional carpet sweeper, and also possessed an elaborate bellows mechanism on top of the body to generate suction of dust and dirt. Hess received a patent (US No. 29.077) for his invention of the vacuum cleaner on July 10, 1860 British engineer, Hubert Cecil Booth patented a motorized vacuum cleaner on August 30, 1901. Booth's machine took the form of a large, horse-drawn, petrol-driven unit, which was parked outside the building to be cleaned with long hoses being fed through the windows. Booth first demonstrated his vacuuming device in a restaurant that same year and successfully sucked dirt. More Americans inventors introduced variations of the same cleaning-by-suction type contraptions. For example, Corinne Dufour invented a device that sucked dust into a wet sponge; and, David Kenney designed a huge machine that was installed in a cellar and connected to a network of pipes leading to each room of a house. Of course, these early versions of vacuum cleaners were bulky, noisy, smelly, and unsuccessful.
- Q: The pool pump is broken at the moment, can I substitute that with a sump pump?
- WOW I am impressed by the ingenuity McGuyver but I am not going to guess, If you try it post back and let me know how it worked out the new pool pump was a wise choice
- Q: How do they suck up the dirt? I have always wondered this. How does a vacuum work?
- If you are serious, most work with a motor driven high velocity low volume air mover. Air is sucked through a collection reservoir of some sort, Air is admitted to the reservoir. Yes, they can make ones that are less likely to get clogged, but they must be larger, and have larger motors, reservoirs, and hoses, but those are less suitable for general purpose household or commercial cleaning due to the size of the machine and their power requirements. They are made big for industrial dust/debris collection in factories, and vacuum material collection trucks.
- Q: If my son is going to push a toy vaccuum around the house, why couldn't it be actually cleaning?
