Q: I have speakers from the JVC unit SP-HXZ30, and I want to hook them up to my new Yamaha RXV367. The speakers have four wires each, how would I connect both speakers to the receiver?
Ok, this may be a bit complicated so pay attention. There will be a quiz at mid-term. What you have here are three way speakers. There is a woofer, midrange and tweeter. The subwoofer is really just a woofer. Unfortunately for you it is not set up like a normal three way speaker. It is set up to be bi-amplified. What JVC did was they included a separate power amplifier in this system to power the subwoofer. That is why there is a separate input for it on the back of the speaker. In addition there is a filter in the main unit of the JVC that filters out the high and mid range sounds for the subwoofer amplifier. This is a problem as you are now using a Yamaha receiver instead of the JVC main unit. The Yamaha does not have this feature. These are the options: 1. Just use the top speaker terminal for the midrange (woofer) and tweeter: It won't sound very good. You will get little to no bass. 2. Jump the upper and lower speaker terminals: Highly inadvisable. As each section is 6 Ohms you will wind up with 3 Ohms and that is likely to be too low for the Yamaha receiver. It won't damage it, it will just go into fault mode and shut down. You will also have distorted midrange and highs coming through the woofer. 3. Get a subwoofer amplifier to power the bottom of these speakers and connect it to the subwoofer out on the Yamaha: A silly option really. This would cost as much or more than just getting better speakers. 4. Get better speakers: This is the best option. Those JVC speakers are plastic boom box speakers and are not nearly the quality of the Yamaha receiver. Use option #1 until you get better speakers.
Q: i have 4 alpine type s speakers that are 80 watts rms and i have a amp that is 50 watts rms x 4 would this be underpowering my speakers
Yes by 30rms. It wouldnt sound to bad but not as loud as it could go. You should try a 70-90rms x 4 amp. They would make your speakers sound real good and crisp.
Q: I have a boombox and its hooked up to house speakers and they both cut in and out what can i do to fix it????
The problem could be the speaker wires, but it can also be the speakers. It will also depend on the type of speakers you have, most home speakers operate at 8ohms will car audio are at 4ohms. If the speakers are rated at lower ohms then your boombox can handle, then that can lead to problems as well. Also if your boombox may be providing more power then the speakers can handle.
Q: Every time i listen to music or watch a video on my computer, the speakers will suddenly make a loud noise and cut out any other audio. Its hard to explain the sound it makes but it sounds kind of like a choppy horn going. It only lasts for a split second, but no matter what i do, how loud it is, it will keep doing this, around every 10 seconds or so. I know for a fact that it is not because of the speakers.(it happend with my last ones too) Also, im not sure if this is the same problem or not, but i cant watch any videos using Windows Media Player. It will show the video but it will be all lines through it and distorted. Any help on fixing my problem would be great. Thanks.
Buy new speakers. or in the bottom right corner of your computer click the picture of a speaker and ajust it you could have just blew your speaker
Q: iam looking to buy some wireless speakers for my computer and i do not know if they are wireless or not.Does channel speakers mean wireless?
The speakers or the box should definitely state if they are wireless. The term channel could mean several things, as in left or right stereo channel or it could be a model name or the brand name. A wireless speaker will need a power cord on it. This is to power the wireless receiver and amplifier to make the speaker work. It will not need (but I suppose it could have) any audio connections on it.
Q: I have a 2002 Toyota 4Runner and I was wanting to find out just exactly what size of speakers I can use to replace my factory speakers. Also would like any recommendations for a good replacement speaker. I want to replace all 4 speakers in the doors.
I believe its 7 for the front and 5 1/4 for the back. As far as recommendations for replacement speakers, when it comes to car audio, you pretty much end up getting what you pay for. Rule of thumb is that the more expensive stuff is the better stuff. Cheaper brands will advertise to trick you. If your 4 Runner doesn't have tweeters (really small speakers to play high notes) you may want to invest in coaxial speakers, that is, speakers that have a regular speaker cone and also a tweeter. This might produce a better sound. You should also invest in at least an aftermarket cd-player, and even an external amplifier to give your new speakers the power so you can really take advantage of the sound they can produce.
Q: I have a plasma that has two long speakers screwed to either side and attached to the tv via removable speaker cables. I am building this into a wall and to save on space need to remove the speakers. This done i have no sound unless i turn my home cinema on for sounound sound. I would like to attach two in wall mounted speakers as these would fit to allow me to watch tv without the amp on. Watching news etc with baby asleep. Uptill now i could use the tvs speakers but now need to know if I can replace them with two other small in wall speakers like the ones you get in a bathroom. The out put will only be powered by the tv not an amp and the speakers on the tv at the mo are 7w 4 ohm each. Anyone know of a in wall speaker capable of this that is no bigger than 5 round mounting. Ps do I need to get a 7w speaker to replace as the lowest I can find is around 15w for a ceiling speaker? Any advice would be good. Thanks.
Speakers with higher power ratings (more than 7 Watts) will work fine, but try to stick with 4 ohm impedance for the new speakers.
Q: I have a 2001 Chevy Cavalier coupe with 4 speakers and they are kind of weak. I have been offered box speakers for my car. I have the manufactured stereo still and i hear that i cant connect the speakers with that. Is it possible to just go through the other speakers wiring?
You can replace the factory speakers with after-market upgrades, but you can't add additional speakers unless you also install an amplifier to drive them.
Q: , speaker, and amp?
wattage comes in two flavors Peak-to-peek and RMS. A speaker is rated in OHMS. A 2 ohm speaker that is driven by a 50 watt amp - will be MUCH LOUDER than an 8 ohm speaker, driven by that same amp. You actually can damage a speaker with an UNDER-POWERED amp as well what happens is the AMP can't keep up with the power demand so it DUMPS all it's wattage in spurts which can damage your VOICE COIL(S). A sub-woofer is a speaker or set of speakers which has a very low FREQUENCY BAND. they often require more WATTAGE to provide the same output when compared to BASS speakers or MID-RANGE speakers. I hope that helps.
Q: I Have purchased a 93' Marquis LS and it has the stock speakers ini swapped decks already and just wondering how i would go about getting the back fabric out to swap the rear speakersAnd they are 6x9's right? (its a big car with 5x7 door speakers so it better have rear 6x9's lol) thanks in advance
hello, congratulations on your new deck purchase. I would advise AGAINST putting in the new speakers in that the car company put a lot of thought into placing the speakers in the first place. so, unless one is like blown out, I'd stay back from that idea. good luck : }
