- Since it doesn't have to fit and there is no need to make it thin to avoid weight on the face, use air dry clay (several brands available) and form a rough shape of a face from crumpled aluminum foil or wadded paper taped down with plastic on top, then roll out/smash out clay to about 1/2-3/4 and lay it on the backing form and just sculpt the details by pushing on the first layer and adding more clay where needed (horns, nose, etc.) Cover with plastic when not working on it to keep it soft and when done, let it dry completely - several days - then you can paint it after removing the stuffing.
