Q:hi we bought a new black wool rug last week and since then my life has been taken over by little black hairs! they are all over the laminate floor, the furniture and our clothes. i have tried sweeping the rug but although i get quite a lot of hairs out of it, they just keep coming! my friend got a wool rug a year ago and although it has settled a bit she still has a similar problem. is there anything i can do to speed up the excess fluff loss or am i going to spend the rest of my time with a dustpan and brush in my hands?: Other than cleaning it as suggested, you could also use one of those roll type lint brushes to get excess off it but I'm sure it will take a few tries!

Q:is it okay to wash rugs in the washing machine? it won't damage it, or cause damage to future loads?: wha ttype of rug i'd think twice about this and if you need to go on gentle cylce with woollite product.or ask the cleaners ps i heard if you put a bit of salt in this will hold the colors

Q:I want to make carpet skates but don't know what material to use.: u don't really need much to make them. Carpet skating is possible if you use any material under your feet that will slide on carpeting. This also works on hard floors, too. To skate on carpet, start with a pair of nice thick socks. Cut out plastic foot pads for the bottoms and sew them in place. The plastic bottom will slide on the carpet without hurting the carpet material. To skate on wood, linoleum or any hard floor... just use the thick socks. Some kids do this without thinking about it. Carpet and sock skating is like any other type of skating. Please be safe. Don't try it near obstacles or furniture. Make sure surfaces are clean. Keep it simple. Real carpet skates are pretty cheap and probably offer a better surface for sliding:

Q:Alright , so we forgot and left the portable heater on the carpet and overnight it caught fire and burnt the carpet, its a pretty huge area.. Any idea's of how to make it less visible or even patch it ?Thankks MUCHHH .: yes, a carpet installer can patch it if there can be found a piece of carpet that closely matches it.if you can get it at a carpet store that would be the best,otherwise you can take a piece out of a bedroom closet or somewhere it won't be as noticeable.you can do it yourself but it is very complicated to explain on here.basically it is like a patch.

Q:I am making my own rug with a random pattern. One of the strands broke on the canvas and i have a large area i can't work. How do I repair this? Any help or suggestions (other than start over) would be appreciated!: I used to make my own hooked rugs...just cut a patch of canvas the approx. size of that damaged area and incorporate the patch into the rest of your wool pattern...you could thread some thread first so it will stay in place as you are hooking the rug...Since it's a random pattern it will not be noticed (only from underneath) Right?

Q:I know nothing of carpet, but I need to get carpet... I got a great deal on Shaw carpet, 55 oz. Is this good?Thanks!: shaw carpet is good carpet 55 oz is great the most important thing is to get the best is a 8lb padding. you can cut cost on carpet but if you use the standard crap padding it wont felt as nice and your carpet will last about half as long as it would using the good padding.
