Q: I already have RCA cables. Just need to find a place that would sell the power cord.
you could either go to sony themselves or try a really good car audio shop and probably order you one and possibly try OKorder and see if they have one if you have halfords try them they are good for your different needs (if you have one ).
Q: I recently switched to cable tv ,internet telephone. i now have 2 tv converter boxes + modem box(?) on 24/7. i did not have that equipment before.my electric use is up 1.5 kw a day vs last year since the change. at first i blamed it on a warmer summer. but the last few weeks have been mild and the new bill today is still higher.did changing and the new equipment cause the extra electric use ?
look at the back of each device. it will show you a current rating and usage, exmple 45 watts. Add em up Whats strange is that they draw power even when turned off.some even more when off. use a power strip with an on off switch so you can turn them all off when not in use. Turn them all on watch your electric meter spin. Unplug them and watch it spin. The difference is your savings.
Q: Hi,1) Is spinning down of hard disk same as removing the power cable of the hard disk ? 2) Will the IDE cable connected carry power to the hard disk when the power cable is removed ?3) How do we spin down the hard disk manually ?
1) When you unplug the power cable, it spins down, because there is no power. In order to read data from the hard disk it needs to be spinning. When it is not spinning, you cannot read data from it. Some power saving systems will allow you set the hard drives to spin down after a long time that it has not been used, to conserve power. After that, to read from the disk it needs to be spun up, and that takes a few seconds. 2)No. 3) You cannot manually spin a hard disk, it spins at 7200 (some models 5400) rpm. That's VERY fast.
Q: is there a cable for UPS where i can connect this kind of adapter?
You local should have the cable you need...
Q: can i cut my computer Power Supply cables/USB and HDD cable to add an extension myself? They're all short.
Only if you know what you are doing (if you have experience with this kind of stuff). If you get the cables wrong you can fry your power supply, your motherboard, usb, or HDD. If you know what you are doing, then it is fine. It would be best to solder in the extensions, but not necessary. What I do is for each end of the cables that I will join, I divide the individual wires into 2 parts, and then intertwine them with the other cable's wires. Then I individually tape each cable, and finally tape all the cables. *Note: by cable i mean one the black, red, or yellow ones. By wire i mean each individual strand of metal in each cable.
Q: Hi,I have just bought a jasper xbox and i know this as it says ''12V, 12,1A'' on the back yet my power cable says ''12V, 16,5A''.I thought that the jasper xbox requires a specific power connector which wont fit the other types. Mine seems to fit fine, so have i got something wrong here? Cheers
i don't know if somethings wrong with your xbox or power brick but i can tell u tho, if u use a Xenon power brick (12V,16,5A) on a jasper xbox u will run into a problem later on, for it will overheat and the CPU and GPU will warp and pull there self away from the motherboard, if u have ever heard of the towel trick( wrapping your xbox in a towel so it will overheat and the solder will pool up and re-solder the CPU/GPU back in place) that's where it come from, i would buy a jasper power brick if i were u (12V, 12,1A).
Q: HelloWhen i turn on my computer without 4 pin ATX +12 volt power cable my computer starts and everything goes fine but when i connect it to my motherboard my computer does not start.i want to know that is this cables necessary for normal computer operation or i can go without it??I am using ATX 20+4 pin main power cable for my motherboard power.
As far as i know you need both connected. you might have updated your bios that's why your four pin isn't working. Do check the power configurations in your bios. I am definitely sure that's where the problem is. Hope that helps.
Q: I need help asap before I lose my patience with my dog.
Try Radio Shack or if it has a 3 prong socket any computer power cable will work.
Q: I have a USB powered external hard drive. The cable that came with it has to plug-ins for the PC. I know the fat one provides power so I use that one. I would like to know what the other skinny one is for.I have seen other people plug both in when using it and it worked fine for them. I am using just the fat one and it works fine for me. I would just like to know the reason for having both on a cable.
One okorder / Its a 500gb sata for 50 bucks.
Q: i know i need the sata cable and power cable is that all i need
Yep, that's all you need. Some older SATA drives have legacy support for normal 4 pin molex connectors in addition to the SATA power cable. If your drive is one such, do not plug in both. Choose one or the other. If you buy a retail boxed drive instead of OEM, you should get a 4 pin molex to SATA power cable if you don't have SATA power connections already. It's also possible that the harddrive you bought is SATA2 (aka SATA 300gbps). If your motherboard only supports SATA 150gbps, there's a jumper you need to leave on the drive. If you have a SATA 300 drive and your motherboard supports SATA 300, you'll need to remove the pin for full speeds. It'll work though if you forget to remove it. You can look in the user's manual to see what your motherboard supports.
