Q:The water pump gasket in my '98 Forester (130k) recently began to leak, and I will be replacing it in the next couple days. I noticed a stream of bubbles in my overflow container, though, and am wondering if it might be bad head gaskets making the air bubbles. The bubbles only appear after the engine is warmed up, like after a drive around town - there aren't any bubbles when the engine is cold.Is it possible that these air bubbles are coming from the leaking water pump? I hope so, because I'd much rather replace the pump than the head gaskets!
Yes it is from the leaky water pump. Because it is leaking it will most prob be sucking air. If it was a head gasket you would notice it when cold as well
Q:Why such a difference in price. Is the GM worth 4 times the NAPA brand. Both are new for a 2003 Buick ParkAve Ultra with 95k miles. 1st time we're replacing the water pump.
It depends on which pump you are getting from napa the reman pump or the new pump also that is not the only thing that you will need! you will also need the plastic elbows that go from the water pump to the alternator bracket (as soon as they are touched they will break into a million pieces) there are 2 elbows in the Dorman/help bubble pack both will be needed (they aren't very expensive though) And yes the 4 hours is fine (my database calls for almost 5 hours (4.8) that's because it's an Ultra (supercharger is an interference when accessing the pump) So continue with what you are doing just be sure to get the NEW pump from NAPA
Q:hiI have very low pressure only on the hot water in my kitchen sink. Cold water is fine. Can anyone recommend a water pump/power shower i can use for boosting my hot water in the kitchen sink tap?Ive already tested the faucet by swapping the water supplies.thanks
To determine if it's the water system or the faucet, turn off the hot water supply valve and remove the supply line from the faucet (or remove it from the spigot on the wall and use a spare supply line). Turn the water on full and direct the water into a bucket to determine the flowrate (like you did earlier from the tap). Now repeat with the cold spigot. Did you get the same amount of water over the same amount of time (same flowrate)? If so, there's something wrong with the faucet, and it needs to be repaired or replaced. If not, you likely have some restriction in your hot water system, which could be the supply valve itself. Or it could be something anywhere from the water heater to that spigot. Next you would have to do something similar (measuring the flowrate) at various faucets in your house (including a bath/shower) to see if it's a house-wide problem or just local to that kitchen faucet. One thing that does happen in hot water systems is that debris from scale buildup in the water heater can be flushed out into the pipes and create restrictions in the valves that could affect flowrate.
Q:I posted this earlier but nobody really answered my question . if my water pump is clearly on the serpentine belt I t need to replace the timing chain to get to it correct? The bolts holding the pump in are around it near the timing chain cover but they don't look like they are inside it. the pump is clearly driven by the serpentine so should I be fine not removing my timing belt to fix the pump? its leaking. Also I know you should replace the timing chain+tensioner but I inspected the chain 400 miles ago its properly tensioned the belt is in good condition its a chain it will last the life of the car its not the cheap belts.
If you can change the pump without removing the timing belt then go for it, you are lucky. I don't replace the tensioner unless it needs to be replaced, usually they last a long time. I replace the timing belts every 60,000 miles, but usually you can go to 80,000 maximum but I don't like to take it to the last minute, not safe.
Q:nan
NO the air stone is connected by airline tubing. The airstone should be in the water, the pump out.
Q:Mercedes 2000 ml 320. I changed radiator and water pump now car only runs half as worm than it used to. So now heat blows cold to little warm depending on how cold out side
flush out the heater core and change the thermostat !
Q:All water pump have diferent caracteristics, but it is imposible to overcome a certain hight...what is that hight and why?
The height limit stems from the fact that water exerts a tremendous amount of pressure. If you have enough water, then the pressure will be so large, that no practical amount of force will be large enough to pump water. Not sure what the height is, but I'm sure you can google it. I.E. Maximum absorption height of a water pump
Q:trying to instal pump and I can't get fan blade off It is a1999 chev 5,7 vortex
As John M said, they make special wrenches to remove the fan clutch from the water pump. It can be a pain in the... When I did mine on my 97, I ended up removing the fan and pump as one piece from the truck, then had to weld the impeller of the water pump to the housing to keep it from spinning, then use a big wrench on the fan clutch to get it loose!!! It was way too tight. Hopefully yours isn't that tight, but maybe it gave you an idea on how to get it apart. Good luck
Q:its a smalll pump with LABAWCO belle meade n.J. imprinted on the side
Q:old sbc v8 water pump from oreilly's came apart and the fan ate up my serpentine belt, power steering pump pulley, clutch fan obviously, and put 5 holes in my new aluminum radiator. What will they cover? Remanufactured limited lifetime warranty. '78 chevy k10 350 sbc
the warranty will replace the water pump. the rest is on you my friend. if you had checked the water pump ealier when the bearing first started to make noise this would not have happened.
