Q: We have a big garden, and we often have a few of the neighbours' cats wandering around in it at any one time. My kitten is 10 weeks old and he's had his shot for cat flu, but not for cat AIDS or leukaemia (gets those in a couple of weeks). Is he old enough to be introduced to the garden? And if so, would it be safer to wait until he's vaccinated against AIDS, or doesn't it matter- I can't see how a kitten could get AIDS, to be honest. The vet said there was a lot of cases in our area though. Also, my mum's worried that if we let him out in the garden, the older cats from the local neigbourhood might think he's invading their territory and attack him. Would they do that?I'd like him to be a mostly outdoor cat, as we have a lovely garden but a very small house (and he's trashing it :P) He's very strong and vivacious so I'm not worried about him being afraid of the grass or anything (like my dog is lol)Thanks for your help! :D
Wait until kitty gets all his shots. Better safe than sorry and he'll be better prepared. Also, lots of toys. My cat loves the birds that make noise. I tie them to the string hanging from the scratching post. Keeps her busy forever.
Q: I am in search of a Coconut cream pie recipe from the better homes and gardens all time fav pie recipes from 1978 or so
I came along the better homes and gardens websites and I typed in coconut cream pie and a few showed up so below in the source box I give you just pick one of those beside the one I put here Double-Coconut Cream Pie Rated : Not yet rated Rate and Comment Prep: 1 hour Bake: 15 minutes Cool: 1 hour Stand: 30 minutes save to recipe box already saved add to shopping list Create Cookbook Double-Coconut Cream Pie Ingredients * 3 egg whites * 1/3 cup sugar * 1/4 teaspoon salt * 1/4 cup cornstarch * 2 cups milk * 3/4 cup cream of coconut * 3 beaten egg yolks * 2 tablespoons margarine or butter * 1 cup flaked coconut * 2 teaspoons vanilla * 1 9-inch baked pastry shell * 1/2 teaspoon vanilla * 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar * 1/3 cup sugar * 2 tablespoons flaked coconut Directions 1. Let egg whites stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. 2. Meanwhile, for filling, in a medium saucepan combine the first 1/3 cup sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Stir in milk and cream of coconut. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir for 2 minutes more. Gradually stir about 1 cup of the hot milk mixture into the beaten egg yolks, stirring constantly. Return all of the mixture to saucepan. Cook and stir until bubbly. Cook and stir for 2 minutes more. Remove from heat. Stir in margarine or butter until melted. Stir in the 1 cup coconut and 2 teaspoons vanilla. Pour hot filling into baked pastry shell. 3. For meringue, in a mixing bowl beat egg whites, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, and cream of tartar on medium speed of an electric mixer until soft peaks form (tips curl). Gradually add 1/3 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, beating until stiff peaks form. Evenly spread meringue over hot filling; seal to pastry edge. Sprinkle with the 2 tablespoons coconut. Bake in a 350 degree F oven for 15 minutes. Cool for 1 hour on a wire rack. Cover and chill 3 to 6 hours before serving. Makes 8 servings.
Q: I plan on starting a good sized garden where I will grow as many vegetables as I can. This will be to save money on groceries, eat healthier (since they'll all be just right there), and with whatever excess I'll take to the farmers market for other people to enjoy, while at the same time trying to pay for my garden investment! So I'm hoping in the following years the pay off will be saved money on groceries, learned a lot, got exercise, and maybe make a little supplemental funds on the side to pay for bills and such, but at first to pay for the garden itself....
Hi Oakfur I have Italian truck patch farmers who live down the street from me who have been doing that very thing for years and make a good living doing it. Get ready for some hard work though, and consider what you could make on any other job available to you. With a small garden, I would think you'd spend a lot of time with very little produce to sell so on an hourly basis it may not be worth it. Try it and see, you have nothing but a little time to lose and you'll sure cut your grocery bill. Hope this helps
Q: Mainly to see a celebrity from the animal planet? Since we are renting , we can't really buy and landscaping stuff or anything.
I would spend that much and buy a bottle of Vodka, make a few stiff drinks and watch animal planet on tv. Now go drink a beer and relax.
Q: I'm just looking for monthly updates and stuff on new ideas for my home. Not really garden ideas so much. Any magazines or the like that send out free issues that you know of? Thanks.
google free home and garden magazines.
Q: why doesn't my home have a garden?
Well Ninja Kangaroo, first, somebody's got to say this home needs a garden. Then somebody needs to be willing to dig in the dirt, add things to the dirt, learn about plants, trees, flowers, decide what the garden is going to contain, shop for the plants, put them in the ground, feed, water, pull weeds, mulch, give that garden a lot of tender loving care to nurture it into a lovely, joyous addition to the home.
Q: I used to have the cookbook, but it got old and was falling apartf (from use), so I bought a new one and threw out the old one (stupid!). It had the best pumpkin pie recipe in it. Does anyone have it?
Favorite red meat Loaf 1-1/2 pounds ground red meat 1 cup medium cracker crumbs 2 beaten eggs 1 eight-ounce can seasoned tomato sauce half of cup finely-chopped onions 2 tablespoons chopped inexperienced pepper 1-1/2 teaspoons salt 1 medium bay leaf, beaten dash thyme sprint marjoram combine all components; combine good. Form combo in a loaf in shallow baking dish. Press two inexperienced pepper rings and an onion ring atop meat loaf, if preferred. Bake at 350 levels about 1 hour. Makes 6 to 8 servings. I ordered this cookbook on line for the reason that the recipes are so good.
Q: I guess a statue of a cherub or something would work better, but I really like thai statues.
Well if its your home then yeah put what you like in it but if youre selling it or its going to be a public place then maybe you should consider what the majority of people will like better.
Q: I know that Dawn dish soap does but giving my cats a bath would probably end up with a trip to the ED for stitches:( I heard something once about lemon juice.
Use garlic in their food- I give it to all my animals and no fleas. the dogs are easier as I jsut give them a clove just like it was a pill. Cats a little more picky- you have to crush the clove and put it in something they like peanut butter works for mine. Also, try Gold Bond powder on the cats. Watch the flea collars- our cats are very alleergic to them You can also use cedar shavings for their bedding area.
