Q:Would you buy a ranch home with the same area above as below, and kitchen above and below with a big garden ?
I bet you could sell it to an older couple who had a son or daughter who really needed a break like having a basement to move into so he or she could go to school or because his or her job doesn't allow living independently, especially if there were grandchildren. I don't think those people would mind having their kids enter and exit through the house, and they would keep the basement clean.
Q:When hemp is legalized again in the United States. will you start to grow it in your home gardens?
Probably not. I actually like to grow castor oil plants more. They look better and grow really fast. And plus, who else can say you grow one of the most toxic plants on earth in your yard?
Q:butterfly garden?
According to the Cornell Cooperative Extension, butterfly gardens need the following 5 elements: -a sunny, preferably wind protected area - nectar rich flowers for butterflies - food for caterpillars - wet sand or puddle - avoiding use of pesticides. Some butterfly-loving colorful annual flowers are: cosmos, zinnias, sunflowers, marigold, snapdragon and petunia. Some perennials to consider are: aster, daylily, lavender and yarrow. Your local State Cooperative Extension Agent from the Agriculture School of your state's university will have a webpage with helpful instruction sheets about this and other gardening topics. In your local library, the Dewey Decimal number for gardening books will be approximately 638.5789 for butterfly gardens.Call the Reference Department of your local library to ask for best books and websites on this and any other topic.
Q:Whats your favorite gardening magazine?
I don't subscribe to one myself, if I need advice I go to google or here. I haven't found a magazine that seems to cater to 'regular folk' and their gardens, they all seem to be about like gardens at mansions and such. But, if I do want to brows a magazine, I do it while I am at home depot or lowes or walmart, they have magazines (especially home depot) near the garden sections, and I can get ideas from those. Go to your local home depot or garden center, brows what mags they have and see if they fit your needs, sorta like test driving the mags! :)
Q:domain name suggestion!!!?
Ask Raxa about Home Garden and Travel.
Q:Any home remedies for irritated, peeling, extremely dry skin [face] due to using clearasil?
Anything with Benzoyl Peroxide in it is going to turn your skin red until your skin gets used to it. Moisturize a ton with an oil free moisturizer (oil of olay oil free is really good). If you can, get your hands on some jojoba oil or a moisturizer with jojoba oil in it. It takes care of irritation and flakiness, and it leaves your skin silky smooth. If you have the oil alone, mix it with a little moisturizer. Good Luck!
Q:what are some safe, edible garden plants for dogs?
As a fellow Boxer owner, I know you have your hands full. You can use the other methods described below, and they may help, but the real answer is excercise and then more exercise. You say she has plenty but how much is that? My Boxer is the same way when she does not get to run or go for a long walk. I come home to find she has taken things (like today was a package of curtains, the last time it was a picture frame) out into the yard to play with, even though she has a Cocker Spaniel as a playmate and can go in and out of the house into a large fenced in yard! She can run for an hour or go for a 4.5 mile walk and then run some more. I try to give her a run every day, but can't always do it now that it's getting darker earlier, so I play ball with her on the stairs. Boxers are high energy dogs, and it sounds like yours is finding ways to release some of it. She may also need mental stimulation - teach her the find it game. Hide small tidbits around the room while she is in another one. Bring her near the first one and say find it. Keep working with her a little each day until she knows what find it means. My dog can be told to find specific things, she knows how to find her basketball, soccer ball, bone, hoofie, Dad, etc. I'm planning next to teach her how to pull a cart - that should keep her busy, and a dog with a job is a happy one. Good luck - Boxers Rule!
Q:Storage for home/ mobile garden?
You need a lot of room to grow enough to sustain yourself try Hydroponics, its the only way to grow in a small confined area a lot of pots in an enclosed area is asking for dampness humidity problems and if the dirt is not clean, welcome to gnat city hydroponics can be set up to grow vine type plants that hang from a string to get more yield, but IMHO you wasting your time unless you have a good sized room supplemented with light from outside, if you want to use pots use vermiculite/perlite mixture and powered all purpose hydroponic nutrients you will have to learn how to adjust the PH information is readily available on line on how to do this and what to use as far as being mobile, that is something I would be wanting to see myself hydroponics can be set up and broken down very easy given the right system.
Q:What does a home appraiser check for when they do an appraisal? Does it matter if my gardens are not weeded?
Unless the yards are really a mess it shouldn't make a difference in the appraised value of your house. Appraisers have some latitude considering over all curb appeal. They will often take the overall appearance into consideration especially when the property is close to the needed amount to make the loan.....if the property really looks good they might bump the value up 2%-5% to meet the loan requirement. I have seen appraisers bump up the price as high as 10% because of the curb appeal (several years ago).....but in today's market appraisers are being much more cautious and conservative. Now it isn't unusual for lenders to get a second appraisal.
Q:Does anyone know a site i can make a layout for my garden?
