- Q: could u build a stair case on top of the floor without messing the floor up?
- what you have a laminate question or a stair case question
- Q: What is the material used to exercise the floor?
- Santa Fe sports floor has a very high quality requirements.

- Q: The laminate floor in the apartment im renting is starting to swell. Theres a few areas in the floor where its swelling up, its pretty noticible. Im afraid that if I tell my landlord about it, he'll make me pay to replace the floor.. It's very humid up here, the floor gets sticky alot of the time. Can that be the cause of the swelling? How do I fix it and prevent it from getting worse? Should I tell my landlord? Will I have to pay for it?Im alittle worried because I know it can be costly replacing or fixing the floor, what should I do?
- You absolutely need to tell your landlord. Today! Most leases call for immediate notification of problems or damage. Not doing so would more likely cause your landlord to have a legitimate claim against you. The cause for the swelling is moisture. The source of the moisture is impossible to determine without being there. Humidity could have caused it, but it's not likely. More likely would be a leak somewhere that is traveling under the floor. Good luck.
- Q: how do you take up linoleum on a wood floor with out damaging the wood
- Not damaging the wood just can't be avoided, but you can minimize the damage by working slowly and carefully. Start by removing the linoleum with a pry bar such as a wonderbar. If the adhesive is strong, then you will have to tap the end of the wonderbar with a rubber mallet to scrape up the lino. Be sure to wear a respirator since that old glue may contain asbestos fibers. Once the lino is removed, you can go after the adhesive. Keep in mind that any adhesive remover you put on the floor will seep into the wood, and prevent future adhesives from sticking. It can also interfere with how you stain the wood. Boiling water seems to be the method of choice to loosen the glue. It's applied in small amounts, and then the softened goo can be scraped it off with a putty knife. After the bulk off the goo is off, your floor can be lightly sanded. editted to add that while a heat gun can also work, it's not recommended if you plan on staining the floor. If you are not experienced with heat guns, you can scorch the floor and discolor it permanently.
- Q: Plastic floor self-leveling ground need to make cement mortar leveling ahead of time
- If the height is no problem, do not do, but the amount of cement self-leveling to be larger.
- Q: What is the quality of b grade laminate flooring? Does it scratch if a piece of paper touches it?
- While not specific to laminate flooring, grade 'b' flooring in general is a step down from the top of the line, generally exhibits subtle flaws on the surface but maintains an even coating surface (that is to say, you don't have to fill extra space). With most hardwoods this translates to a rating of #1 or #2 common floors. With Laminate floors I would guess that there would be mild warping, and slight unevenness in the surface. Perhaps a lower quality laminate used, but mostly a lower grade particle board backing, which would lend itself to being cracked along the seems easier.
- Q: I have recently moved into this house with my fiance, and our children. Well, it does not have linoleum or anything like that on the kitchen floor. The base floor, I guess you would call it... is disgusting. Black. I was wondering if it would be a mistake to mop it, or if I should get a sponge and elbow grease.?I'm going to test a small part, before doing anything, I suppose that would be my best bet. But what would I clean this with?I guess I'm just afraid the dirt will get gunky and build up more.Children are under the age of 4. And, you have to go through the kitchen in order to get to the Bathroom, I'm thinking of having them go to their Nana's for an evening and doing it?Any advise would be greatly appreciated! :)
- Not sure what you mean by base floor, is it wood or concrete or chipboard. You would have to be careful if it is chipboard or wood as soaking it could make it warp or shrink if it gets to wet. Trying a small area first is a good idea, then take it from there. A bucket of warm soapy solution and a deck scrubber if you have one preferably with a long handle or you will have to go down on your hands and knees, then rinse with luke warm water and a mop. Do small area at a time. Leave to dry thoroughly and see how it has turned out, may have to be done a few times to get the result you want. Hope this helps.
