Q: I was wonder if I could fold my electric blanket under my mattress? It's too big for my bed, and I can't let it hang over the sides because there are walls in the way. Could I fold it so that half is on top of the mattress, and half is under the mattress?
Nope. No problem. You can get a Y fitting for above the trap similar to that for a dishwasher to make it easy. BUT - make sure your condensate pump has a back-flow preventer and that the drain hose is properly connected to the Y fitting. YIKES - on the Methane issue: a) Condensate pumps are 'indirect' connections by their nature. b) You must have a back-flow preventer valve in the system anyway, typically within the pump itself. c) Your DWV system is self-venting. The connection will be above-the-trap *NOT* below the trap. There is no potential for methane from within the plumbing system to get into the condensate drain line - or natural gas to get into the drain line. Neither from either direction. YIKES, again!
Q: Does the alarm go off on a saturn L100 when you open it with a key? i lost the remote to my car and i don't want to try it because im not sure how to turn the alarm off
In your position, I'd find a low place (such as the first floor ceiling, or in the basement if possible) where the existing pipe is clear and cut it off square. Before doing so, get a flash light and mirror if needed and determine where the pipe is supported. With those cast pipes being as heavy and brittle as they are, it's important to keep keep them supported securely. When possible, I like to use a circular saw or 4 angle grinder (cut off wheel) to do the cutting. They cause less vibration than many alternatives. If you need to use a sawzall, use a fine toothed metal cutting blade. Consider fernco fittings or others of their type to join the new PVC to the existing cast. You can get them from Home Depot, Lowes, Ace, etc. If you use silicone to seal up the new fittings (shouldn't be needed) be sure that everything is darned good and dry first.
Q: Land lord now. We have nasty old singe pane windows. Can we request to replace them with double pane windows and would it resolve the mold issue?
If they aren't welded, they don't count. If any are threaded and will be seal-welded later, they do count. If they have weld-neck flanges they do count. If there is no weld, why would they be counted?
Q: I am an Environmental and Safety Manager major in college and would like to here some of your concerns. Thanks!!!
i know home depot sells pex fittings, not sure about the pipe but you could call and check.
Q: no i like being a boy i got my own fire hose ^_^
they pee on anything upright, and where other dogs have peed, it is like marking their territory.
Q: What are the reducing, reducing, reducing, etc in the pipe joint?. How do they tell each other what they call that?. Seek expert advice
The pipe joint is divided into cylindrical pipe thread and tapered pipe thread, and the change of diameter refers to the different diameters of the two ends of the pipe joint
Q: I was wondering if police ask you if your friends smoke marijuana, and if they do ask you how serious is the question? I don't smoke but my friends do, how will this affect my chances?
I mean, if you made a fire I guess technically you made a camp?
Q: ive been too many demo derbys but this time im competing in one. what all do i need to do?? i know i have to get a car and wear a helmet but what else??? thanks
I guess they have a right to ride at night. Some people don't have driver licenses and have to use a bicycle to get to and from work even at night. I remember one time around here a few years ago a woman was killed on a bicycle. She was on her way home from work at 3 AM and her driver license was suspended. 2 idiots were drag racing on the road she was on and one car hit her. I understand it's scary seeing a bicycle like that. They should not wear dark clothes and wear reflective clothes and have a light. As long you drive a safe speed, keep your eyes open, you should be fine. To answer your question, I don't think they should purposely ride at night unless they have some place to go.
Q: I have a hard wired smoke alarm that is beeping 1x every 30 seconds. I removed the cover and looked for a battery and could not find anywhere for a battery to be placed.just the wires that the detector is attached to. I have lived in this house for 7 years and this is the 1st time it has chirped. I tried to test/hush it by pressing the test/hush button on the cover.and it is still beeping. I also reset power to the house and no luck. Am I missing something here? Any suggestions?
This is just my opinion, but as far as usage, tubing must be used in every case where O.D. dimension is important. That's why it's used in boilers and heat exchangers, because it must be inserted into the vessel through a hole, and so that dimension is important. The fittings used to join tubing are pretty limited. Above 1 diameter, pipe is almost always used for fluid transfer, because fittings (elbows and tees and stuff) must be used. At 1/8 to 1/2 diameter, you can use either to transfer material, but tubing gets a lot easier to work with as you go down in size.
Q: why did my mom put a smoke detector in my room!?
Been a plumber over 40 years. What you have now is pure junk. You will surely be removing sheetrock.Type L hard copper would be a permanent and sure way to a trouble free system however being from the old school I have no faith in shark bites being buried in a wall. The only sure way is to sweat it together. It takes more time, but is well worth it. The only reason these new fangled ways of joining pipe and fittings, is because not many people can sweat copper any more. If this job is put in right you probably won't need a regulator unless your your pressure is off the map. Hope this helps.
