Q:How should we select a appropriate crane for a particular job ?
What is the load weight? How high is the lift? Obstruction, possibly needing a jib? If you are placing a load onto a roof, how far from the edge of the roof is the load going to be placed? How far from the crane pivot is the load on the ground and how far are you going to to move the load away from the crane to place it in position? How close can you get the crane to the load and to the load placement site. The usual scenario is to call a crane outfit and they will ask you these questions over the phone or come to the site and discuss the lift with you. A crane is rated for maximum lift as close, usually 10 feet,to the cab pivot center. As the distance increases, the maximum load that can be lifted, decreases. Our 15 ton crane can pick 15 tons/ 30,000 pounds at 10 feet from pivot center. With the boom fully extended; the boom is 100 feet, at a 30 degree angle, it can pick up only 5,000 pounds. Inside of every crane cab should be a chart that shows the lift capacity at various boom angles and boom lengths. Also is included is a chart for the Jib, if the crane has one. Wingman
Q:How do people transport cranes?
it depends on the crane over the road mobile cranes drive them selfs to the job site and they have a dolly for the conter weights and then on the larger ones a semi brings in the conter weights. Then on a latise boom crawler crane it depends on the size of the crane if its a small one say a 150 ton crane the body and tracks can usally be moved together on a semi and the lattice boom will come on a seperate truck and is usally assembled with a all terrain fork lift. Then say on a larger crawler crane like a 500 tonner the body and tracks and carrige all come in seperate peices and are ussally put togther with a RT crane(more on the latter) and these cranes are held together with massive pins i saw a crew build a 400 ton manitowac crane with 150 feet of stick in less then a day. Now if they have to add more stick like say 200 feet of main stick and 150 feet of luffing jib they will build it all on the ground and then another crane will help lift the stick up Then there are RT cranes or rough terrain cranes they are moved on a semi to and from the job site and usally require no assebley thats all i know about i cant say how a tower crane is build iv never see one build hope this helps
Q:How do you make an origami crane?
If that doesn't help at all , try pictures with words . Here are my two favourite sites . They have good instructions and pictures . Really simple to understand .
Q:What are the necessary safety devices on a tower crane?
(3) amplitude limiting deviceA crane shall be equipped with a minimum amplitude limiter and a device for preventing the boom from rebounding backward. The trolley must be equipped with a trolley switch and a terminal buffer.(4) rail clamping device and walking spacing deviceTrack type tower cranes must be equipped with rail clamps. A walking limit device shall be installed at the same time.(5) anemometer; For cranes with a hinge height of more than 50m at the root of the boom, a anemometer shall be installed at the top.
Q:What is the safe distance of a tower crane to the surrounding buildings?
It's 5 meters up and down. Outside the radius of rotation is 3 meters, such as QTZ5010, tower crane rotating radius type, 50 meters in diameter, one hundred meters outside the scope is safe
Q:Is the working load of a crane the maximum weight it is able to lift?
Usually there is a safety factor of 400% built into all engineered cranes. This is to account for unforeseen momentary spike loads, operator errors and component weaknesses ( (chipped tooth or poor forged parts or chains, etc) This is to take into account shock loads, for instance if you were picking up a bundle of steel bars and the load shifted and the bars dropped a foot or so the momentary load on the crane spikes. Working load is basically the load the crane is designed to run all day long at. If you run at the design load the crane is covered under the manufacturer's guarantee against defects and the maker is liable for problems or failures associated with the crane. But for example if the manufacturer can demonstrate you were picking up a 5 ton load on a regular basis with a crane rated at 3 tons, the manufacturer's liability is negated. Since you can counterweight any crane enough to theoretically lift anything, most of the cranes that have electric motors actually will stall if you lift much over the design weight. In other words in the above crane if you try to pick up 5 tons with a 3 ton crane, the motor will not have enough horsepower to pick up the weight and the motor will simply not lift it. The actual overload factor built into a crane is usually to contend with those shock loads and defective or weak components not seen.
Q:Is Air Crane a Trademark-able name for a Rigid Airship used primarily for moving heavy objects from above?
It's okorder.com/.... Judging by the fact that a Google search results in many different companies/aircraft that incorporate the term 'air crane', I would say so. But it seems that the term is usually associated with heavy-lift rotorcraft. It also appears that the term is in the public domain. So, you could call it 'JV's Air Crane' or something like that. I've Googled SkyLift, AirLift, Zeplift- all taken However, DiriLift, DirigiLift, and ZepCrane yielded no results. *I relinquish all rights to these terms
Q:Does anyone know the history of the Boyce Crane tool company?
Hot jobs- fashion Champions- A Extraordinary- B Hot Music- 1995 Villian-A Famous First- A Spiral Frog- e
Q:How do you jump a crane? I know you jack it up but how is that done?
I have no idea what you mean by jump a crane? What type of crane? Truck mounted, overhead, pedestal?
Q:How much should the verticality of a tower crane be controlled? Thank you
No, the wind speed is not more than 3m/s, the independent state tower (or attached state highest attachment point above the tower axis) lateral verticality tolerance is 4/1000, the highest tower axis perpendicularity allowed attachment line below the point of difference is 2/1000.
