- DNS is the reason, you probably don/t have a DNS server on thathost XAMPP on 127.0.0.1 locally and it won't go out over the internet or over your nics, but you have to change the listen and virtualhost addresses to 127.0.0.1 and set your hosts file up with the fake domains using an admin cmd shelldon't worry, the domains wont go outthey are localby default, xampp comes setup in promiscuous mode (address ), which you don't wantif you set the listen address to your NIC same thing, it will go over the internet because routers despite firewall won't block server traffic.
