Q: I know that if I put solar panels in my home I will get 30% back from the govt. Does that mean if I pay 2K I will get back around a 3K check? Or will my income play a roll where I may not get back as much?
It's not your income, but the tax you pay. This is a NON refundable credit. You won't see a difference unless you actually owe tax. If you are retired and living on social security and savings, you don't pay tax, so you'd get $0 from the solar panels. If you are married, have a bunch of kids and get a refund of all money withheld anyway, you'd get $0 from the solar panels. If you currently average, say $200 in actual income tax, your $2,000 investment would create a $3600 tax credit, but you'd only get back $200 the first year. (This would reduce the tax bill, increasing any refund of money already withheld to pay that tax bill.) The remaining amount would carry forward to 202. You can keep carrying it forward as long as the credit is available (I think that's currently 206). Get your 200 return out and get form 5695 and run the numbers. Edit, ignore TRO. She doesn't keep up with tax law changes. BOTH the residential and solar credits exist in 20. The Residential credit now limited to $500.
Q: can a small solar panel be charged with lamps?
yes, although charged is the wrong term. But for every 00 watts you put into the lamps, you will get well less than 0 watts out of the solar array. Well less. .
Q: if I have a battery bank of of 6 L-6 Trojan batteries, 6V 390AH, wired in series parallel to give me 2V at 70AH (or 4,040WH) what kind of solar panels should I purchase assuming I have 8 hours of sunlight, a solar tracking system and I want to make sure I can fully recharge my batteries everyday if i use up all the power every night?i understand there are efficiency issues to consider which i have not calculated in yet. thanks.
If okorder /... yet, it's worth browsing the off-grid section. 8 peak equivalent sun hours a day on average is very achievable with tracking, but are you sure you really want to spend on tracking? It's a lot of trouble and expense - might be cheaper just to get more panels. Also be aware that when you have a lead-acid battery bank capable of (say) 000 Ah, that is the capacity that the batteries could supply as a one-shot deal. If you ever took that much from them, they would be ruined. Typically, you would try to take only 20% of the capacity before recharging, although some batteries let you take 50%, with reduced life. Have you considered wiring the batteries as 36 volts? There would be more efficiency, and less problems with equalizing the batteries when charging. Unless 2 volts is really the output that you need most. Sorry to redirect you, but I can't recommend that forum too highly. Lots of considerations.
Q: Are there any safety concerns with solar panels?
There are a few safety concerns associated with solar panels, but they are relatively minimal and manageable. The main concerns include the risk of electrical shock during installation or maintenance if proper precautions aren't followed, fire hazards due to faulty wiring or improper installation, and potential damage from extreme weather conditions. However, with proper installation, regular maintenance, and adherence to safety guidelines, these risks can be significantly mitigated, ensuring the safe use of solar panels.
Q: All I know is they check for amps watts voltage and everything... they dont have to be used for solar panels but um they have like alittle spinny thing in the middle of them. you spin it around to what you wanna test such as the amps watts voltage and stuff.... idk what their called but im looking to buy one to test my solar panels when they come in
They're called...Electric Testers, or Voltage Testers, or whatnot, they don't really have a special name in my experience. Just go to your local hardware store and buy one.
Q: What would these solar panels power? For instance, my energy bill shows 2035kWh for last month. How much would this remove from that if it outputted full power? Thanks!
These panels are for small remote applications. Traffic signs, motion sensor lights, etc, where it would cost more to run an electrical line than it does to buy the panel.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on outdoor event venues?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on outdoor event venues. Solar panels are versatile and can be mounted on various surfaces, including rooftops, canopies, and even the ground. Installing solar panels on event venues can help generate clean and renewable energy, reducing reliance on traditional power sources and minimizing carbon emissions. Additionally, solar panels can provide shade and protect attendees from the sun, creating a more comfortable environment during outdoor events.
Q: I was trying to look online for solar panels for my home to take some of the strain off of using oil and electricity but I find it very hard to understand exactly how they are used.Like one that I looked up is 00 watts.....is that like a light bulb watt? How many things can that power? Is it really cheaper in the long run because the panels are very expensive? If anyone has web sites that can explain this to me I would appreciate a link, or anyone to answer part of my question.

Q: I bought a pack of OEM mini solar panels that produce 4.2v and 22mA and I was just wondering how many LED's I could hook up to one mini solar panel? I currently have one green LED with a resistor on the one panel but was wondering how many I could possibly run off of one panel?
Typically LED's run off low voltage and 20mA or so of power (it depends what kind of led you have). That being said if one of your solar panels only provides 22mA of power then your circuit would have to be a series circuit for you to connect more than one. In a series circuit the current supplied of 22mA will go through each LED whereas a parallel circuit the current would be divided for each subsequential led. So in your case i can see you getting away with 3 or so led's before the voltage drop across each led will cause the voltage to be insufficient enough to drive anymore. Keep in mind the LED's will turn on but the first one will be bright then next one not as bright and so on. If you opted out and bought a solar panel with 200mA and 4V you could wire the led's in parallel and get 0 led's to turn on with the same brightness or intensity. Hoped that helped!
Q: I would love to put in solar panels on my roof, but how hard would it be, and how expensive? Would I be able to do the work myself, or would I have to hire a pro? Also I live in Oregon, so much of the time it is overcast, so would it really be worth it?
