behind-the-neck shoulder barbell presses work out the same muscles as barbell front press, but it emphasizes the anterior deltoids to a much greater degree than standard shoulder presses because you're doing these presses in an unfavorable position. however, front presses should not be replaced by this as a standard mass or strength builder. i wouldn't recommend doing behind-the-back presses unless you've developed some form of shoulder strength and flexibility. having a spotter to help you on the heavier sets wouldn't hurt it either.

Well, only you know how much u can handle an how strong u really are... just do a weight u can lift for 4-6 reps or 6-8 and do the dumbell press on a incline you should be good to do 75- 90 lbs im sure... on the incline so try that... see how it goes.. u can also drop down if its a bit much yes increase your incline benchpress.. its too easy for u... correction on the dumbell incline press when i say 75 - 90 lbs.. i mean 75- 90lbs dumbells in each hand.. not 75- 90 lbs total weight.. just making sure u know... lol :)

Q:Will doing pushups hinder bench press gains?
No. While you are focusing on the pecs and secondarily triceps, they also recruit different muscles. For example, if you can bench press 400lbs, that doesn't mean you can do a push-up if you added weight to your back in order to get added weight + your weight to 400lbs. The converse is also true: just because you can push your body up doesn't also mean that you can bench your body weight. The two are separate things. Another factor is that push-ups are typically done in long sets, or at least that's what you end up striving for. Bench press, and most other lifting, is done with reps anywhere from 1-15 per set (depending on your goals). Do both, as they complement each other.
Q:how much should i be able to bench press?
should be able to bench is hard to say but I'll tell you man, starting regular resistance exercise right now is awesome at your age. It will stimulate hormone development and kickstart your body into making changes that could potentially last for many years. To be honest, I started at 13 and couldn't bench press 65 pounds. That was almost 20 years ago and I loved teh changes I made back then. Today, I'm a personal trainer and could probably bench press two of my 13 year old versions of myself without thinking twice. Have fun man.

What you should do, is, do your normal workout... Aim for 2 more reps on your last set, but just do as many as you can. If you get them, then go up 5 lbs. total on that workout for the next week. Someone who weighs 145 lbs should be benching around 200. I weigh 140 and bench 230. In my lifting federation, the world record for high schoolers is 259 lbs. Another tip: Try doing pause reps. Touch your chest, hold it on your chest for 1-3 seconds, then press up. Do this on every rep. You don't have to pause on your last set, but if you don't go up, try doing this the next week. I have 3 bench press programs. If you want one of them, talk to me about it. And I do know what Im talking about, I hold the world record bench press at the 132 lb class. The record is 211 lbs.

Make sure you're being gentle and barely applying pressure, there is always the risk of dislodging the placenta which could lead to the death of the unborn or an emergency c-section. I'm not saying this to scare you but it's a real concern. That's why when babies that aren't head down when it comes to labor, most doctors won't attempt to try and move the baby because of that risk. I understand what you're saying, I have a 16 month old, but just pay attention and make sure you're not applying enough pressure to actually move the baby.
