- Q: The kind of tile is a good tiles?

- Q: I am about to redo my bathroom, and I Absolutely hate corners. They get dirty and are hard to clean plus I think they are ugly. So as far as tile is concerned is there something like a bent tile for an inside corner such as from floor to wall which will eliminate corners. Imagine if you will a quarter pipe use by skaters. If nothing exists where could I go to get custom tiles made.
- American Olean, Summitville and I m sure there other makers make a cove tile meant to be used of flooring corners between the wall tile and floor tile. You can see them in commercial applications allot. I don t see why you cant adopt the same concept to walls. There is also a base tile used for showers called an A 3401 that you could use in the same way. There is a whole color range in in 4x4 and 6x6 tiles. These are nice but basic tiles . - Q: I am a big fan of tile in homes. I really love tile flooring and tiles in shower stalls, as it looks really nice and feels good on the feet lol. Is there any way to tell the difference between a porcelain and ceramic tile by looking at it after it is already installed? Friends of mine have tile in their kitchen on the floor, and I would like to be able to tell the difference by looking at it from an already installed view. This would also help for visiting other homes with tile, to better understand the difference in look and feel.
- Porcelain indicates the type of clay used to make the tile. Ceramic incorporates all clay tiles, including porcelain. There is no way to tell unless you look at the back of the tile. They often use glass tiles in bathrooms now, too. Ask an experienced installer for tile already in place or an experienced seller of tile if you want new tile.
- Q: Do I start in the middle like normal tile? What happens if I don‘t start in the middle due to the uneven wall?
- Peel and stick tile can be good depending on the surface your sticking it to. The last time I did peel and stick I had an old basement floor with tile that was 40 years old. I cleaned all the old tile, sealed it and the peal and stick tile worked great! One thing about peel and stick tile is that its vinal and will Sink into any inperfections in the floor several weeks after its initially put down. For example, lets say you go over an old tile floor and there is a small gap between the old tiles. The floor will look great when you install it, but in several weeks the gap in the old tiles will start to show. Also if your installing it on plywood, make sure the floor does not move when you walk accross it. If the floor moves in any way, the tiles will start to come up or crack. As far as where to start, its more of a visual thing. Just lay the tiles out first and do a little measuring so when you get to a wall you don't have a tile that is 2 inches or looks out of place
- Q: Is Tumble stones tiles a good selection for a kitchen backsplash and if so how often does it need to be sealed?
- Stone tiles and I recommend sealing twice before installing . should not need to be sealed again w/ the newer penetrating sealers. This make a great backsplash in looks and durability. I have several picts of some I ve done over the years if you need an idea of how it ll look. The grout sealed 72 hrs after grouting giving the stone actually 3 coats. - Q: I have extra floor tiles that i had my kids paint and i want to put them together for my husband for fathers day. any ideas on how to do that?
- If the tiles are 12x12 it depends on the number of tiles you had them paint. You could put them in album frames and hang like pictures; you would get a piece of 1/4 plywood cut to size at Home Depot, paint the wood, glue them down and put hangers on the back; You could get cut plastic sheets or acrylic and arrange the tiles on the sheets, let's say if you had four, you could put four square in the center with 1 1/2 inch between them and two inches around the outside (30x30) You could then get the kids to decorate the border on the plastic with paint, beads, mosaic.
- Q: Can ceramic tile be applied over my existing formica counter tops? They are in good shape, just ugly. They are not molded, but the formica is not loose anywhere and would probably be hard to remove. Anyone have any experience with this sort of project?
- I would opt to remove the old counter top and replace it. You can prepare the surface for tile but those grout lines are what bug me they get dirty because food and debris gets caught and its hard to clean them nothing like a smooth surface.
- Q: I purchaced this tile in 2003 fromThe Tile Shop. I had an incident occure which led me to look for 5 more tiles. I was told by The Tile Shop that they were discontinued. I‘ve called everywhere( in Kansas and Missouri). So far I haven‘t had any luck. where can I find the ceramic tile color Yosemite Sand 13 inch square. I need atleast 5 of them. Thank You..
- like you said, it's discontinued check the manufacturer colors are not universal
