- This is not a completelt difficult manual labor type of job. I'd say its a bit easier than working constrution or other labor jobs. My father owns a construction company and I've seen a hand of woman work for him with little or no problems. You can be anything you want, as long as you work hard and are dedicated to it. There's no reason you cannot set tiles as a living just becayse you are a woman. In fact, woman tend to do well with fields that require thinking and setting things up. - Q: I was looking at the glazed tiles at Lowes, they‘re so nice looking, and they‘ve got so many colors.I‘m looking to tile my living room floor...I‘ve read glazed isn‘t good for floors, it‘s more for walls and counter tops. Can anyone tell me about this? I don‘t have any experience with tiles, what is the norm, the standard for floor tiles?
- For tiles, glazed means that the colors you're seeing don't run all the way through the tile, not necessarily about the finish. If you're concerned about slip-resistance, see about a tile in a matte finish as opposed to a polished finish. Polished finishes can become slippery when you mop them - matte finishes are less likely to be slippery. Otherwise, if it's tile your after, then putting it in a living room is a great idea, particularly if you live in a hot climate. When shopping for tiles, make sure that you specify to your seller that you intend to use it for floor tile. You are right - certain tiles are only meant to serve as wall tiles, particularly dark colored glazed tiles. Make sure that the PEI rating on your chosen tiles are at least PEI3 or better. This is a measurement of how durable they will be in reference to where you'll be installing them. Good luck with your installation!

- glazed tiles are fine to use in the bathroom, the important thing to remember is if they are set properly and to set on either mortar base or hardiboard. the main concern though, would be whether the surface is too smooth a finish when used on the floor, especially when the tiles are wet! this could become a hazard to your health! a lot of tiles used in a floor application, have a sanded or rough finish ,just because of that !

- Q: i‘m seventeen and my family is moving into a new house soon. - It sounds to me like it will go well together. If you're going to paint the tiles, I think it will have to be spraypaint, for them to still have a nice smooth finish. And I think even then, it won't be long before the paint starts to peel off. Tiles just don't take paint or even primer very well.
- Q: this tile i‘m buying is pei 5 and breaking point of 450 lbs. 24x24 inch. at a $1.60 sq/ft. is this a good tile?
- pei refers to the slip resistance of the tile . Thats the highest rating buttttt, most all porcelains are rated this high. 5 rates the tile at a commercial usage which will take heavy foot traffic The tinsel strength is just average. So overall its not a bad tile. The absolute most important thing is the proper setting technique. Not setting it properly and over the correct sub floor , it doesn t matter what you get.
