Q:A week and a half a go I put eight 23 1/2‘‘ x 23 1/2 tiles on my sheetrock wall as a headboard and I can sometimes hear it crack! Will it fall?
heck no! Ive seen tiles installed ritght onto sheet rock in wet arias as in bathroom shower! as far as the papper delamanating from the rock? hell no!!! ur good pal! If u hear cracking, Its not the tiles falling off. maybe the rock seperating from the studs, or the stus sressing out. think of it this way, when you go to hang a heany pic or mirror to the wall u usaly attach to the studs...what you could have done is reinforce the rock (add more screws) then did ur work. right now the rock should be attached with 1 1/4 screws at least with a nail pattern of 6 inch on perimiter and 12 inch in field. hope this info helps! I think ur good pal!
Q:anyone know this kind of tile? How durable is it? is it suitable for wall or floor?

Q:I laid a new porcelain tile floor in my bathroom. Old linoleum tile floor was in good shape so I just laid right over the top of it. All turned out well except around the toilet. Two of the tile cracked when I screwed the toilet back down to the floor. Obviously I‘ll have to pull the toilet again, remove cracked tiles and start over....but how to I avoid the cracks again?
jac...dee, there are several reasons the tile could have cracked, but I wouldn't categorically state that the tile cracked around the toilet because you put tile over linoleum. It just depends on how stable the linoleum was when you put the tile over it. I've have tiled over lino and and it's going on 5 years without any problem. So, if the lino was in good condition, that's not the problem. I'm wondering if maybe you applied too much pressure by screwing the toilet screws down too tightly. It's a common mistake. You should only snug up the toilet screws and not over-tighten. You could cut out the linoleum around the floor in the area of the lino as someone else suggested. But if it's in good condition and lays flat, it shouldn't be a problem. Still, to be safe, maybe cut it away but then add a bit more mortar to ensure the tile is the same height as the rest of the tiled floor. Still, I would avoid tightening the toilet too tight. Only snug! good luck
Q:What does the thinset and grout do to tiles when installing them?
The thin set ( either a grey is what adheres the tile to the substrate your bonding to.It is also used as a filler when setting a cement board down to the floor. This ensures there is no voids between the sub floor and the cement board to make a solid base for tile. The grout is to fill the space between the tiles to help support the tile and to prevent dirt between the needed space for tiles. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q:Moved into a house where prior owner used glazed porcelain tile. Job unfinished but a little tile left behind. Not enough! Can anyone help me find GEO CERAMICHE Natura Sable BL 12x12 (or larger, I can cut it down). Have looked online to no avail (yet). Neighbors tell me the tile was bought at least 4 years ago but not later. Can anyone help me find 5 pieces of this tile?
Find where the tile was bought 1st.. Many big box stores will private label name brand tiles ( and many products) so you can t cross shop them..After 4 years I won t give you much of a chance to find them ..sorry... Styles change along w/ technology and they switch things to change w/ the times. It may be still available but chances are slim..Is it in a place that some sort of mosaic can be used as a decoration? Or maybe a good rug? Start w/ the big box stores but don t waste to much gas chances are slim .. I wish you luck ..
Q:Someone spilled a cleaning liquid on my marble tiles and the glaze came off. Does anyone know how to get the shine back to normal. Right now some parts look regular, and other parts are white. With a certain angle you can clearly see the glaze is taken off.

Q:I am installing tile in a bathroom, hall, dinining room, and kitchen, and they all connect. Where should I center the tiles?
I would start the tiles along the longest wall to minimize the amount of cutting. I am assuming that you are talking about ceramic tile, but i would do the same with vinyl tiles.
Q:Just bought a new manual tile cutter, but it didn‘t come with instructions. Any help would be appreciated.
=== use your search box == how to use the workforce thd20 == please be aware that tile cutting is a learned art ... you have to go S L O W .. and cut at a fraction of an inch at a time if you want to avoid cracking the tile and breakage .... it is not lik
Q:We have a big problem with our tiles in our bathroom, they wont stick. We have painted the floor with the pva. used (waterproof athesive) don‘t know if thats the correct name for it. my boyfriend has let his dad do the tiling as he knows how to do it. i told him to get a profesionals. but he wants he‘s dad. so now we have been having this problem. if any one knows what should we do or use different glue or something, that would really help., thanx
Go to the tile store and take a tile and the glue you used and ask for help.
Q:I saw tiles on HGTV once for a bathroom (I want to use them for a kitchen backsplash) they are small tiles but they are attached to each other by a piece of mesh on the back, and you just peel the paper off the back and slap it on the wall, then grout over it. What are these, where can I find it, etc?
Mosaic tile sheets, and you should be able to find them at most home improvement stores, like Home Depot, etc.
