Once you buy a Sprint phone and they will ask you if you want insurance. At first, I didn't understand, so I said no. Q: How does a mobile come to know that which operator is meant for it. What exactly happens and how a mobile phone attach to the network.How it is different if the mobile is in roaming area?: A cell phone network is made up of the cell phones themselves, base stations, and the mobile switching center (MSC) hardware which does call routing, etc. The base stations (cell towers) are always broadcasting out control signals that contain a System ID (SID) and how it expects cell phones to identify themselves. When you power up a cell phone, it hears this and registers with the nearest base station and your cell phone sends its Mobile ID Number. This Mobile ID Number is more than just your cell phone number, it also contains its own system ID (SID) number, and it also contains the ESN, Electronic Serial Number that identifies that specific phone. If the base station's SID and cell phone's SID match, then the phone is on its home network. If not, then you are roaming and connect to another provider's network, usually for additional charges. Your phone usually can hear multiple cell towers but connects to the one that has the best signal (signal to noise ratio). After your phone is registered, your cell phone number plus ESN are forwarded to the MSC, which sends this to a home location register or HLR. If it turns out you're not on your home provider's network, it goes to a VLR, Visiting Location Register. This way the cellular network always knows where you are, that is, which cell you're in (what cell tower) so calls can be router to/from your cell phone.

Cricket generally will flash Verizon, Sprint, Alltel, Metro PCS, US Cellular and other companies phones over but Virgin Mobile isn't one of them. Virgin Mobile phones along with Tracfone/Net10 have the highest level of anti flashing techniques built into their phones (so people can't buy their cheap phones and then not use them on VM's network). I would just get a cheap Verizon phone as they are the easiest to flash to Cricket. But make sure you are NOT in a Cricket Trimode market. The new Trimode areas can't flash other phones over because they are not compatible with the new Trimode channel. Nobody uses Trimode but Cricket and Metro PCS at this time.

If the officer makes an issue for having a cell phone in the vehicle then the officer should be reminded one of the basic safety principals of having a cell phone in a vehicle. I would recommend to any civilian to carry a cell phone in there vehicle at all times; you just never know when you may need to make that important phone call to save a life. Q: Bluetooth headsets for mobile phones: bluetooth headset and mobile phone goes hand in hand. you can't activate bluetooth without the phone. but using bluetooth headset is better than grabbing your phone at your pocket to answer a call. there is a button on the headset and once you receive a call, just press it and start to talk. press it again after the conversation. there is also a limit of distance wherein you can place your cellphone at the table while you have the bluetooth in you. mine has a distance limit of 10meters away on clear area wherein i can receive the call even if the mobile is a bit away from me. depending on the type of your bluetooth headset. *please be aware that during driving car, you cannot use it as police officers will pull you over if you do so. just like you cannot use the cellphone too.
