- For most cell (mobile) phones the answer is no. In the UK the cell phone company 3 offers a skype mobile phone that provides free skype to skype calls, along with the regular cell phone features at regular rates. In the USA you can load a skype application on the iPhone, iTouch, Nokia N800/N810 and others. Skype calls on these units do NOT go over the cell phone network, but rather use a local (free) wifi hotspot. I use the Belkin Wi-Fi Phone for Skype ( F1PP000GN-SK ) from amazon ($129.35), it works fine if you have a local free wifi hotspot (or Boingo). Out of these areas it is dead.

- My boyfriend and I both have T-Mobile. He has the blast and I had the Nokia 5310 (i recently upgraded to the G1.) The blast is an ok phone. The battery life is not anything amazing but it is ok. I really liked my Nokia 5310. It was compact, had a great music player and it had a long battery life. I know its not a slider phone but you should really check it out. They also have them on sale for $50, just at your budget!

- The first one is the company asking you to acknowledge that you did in fact order a phone. The second one is probably the phone is being held up waiting for the acknowledgment letter to return. Is probably standard practice for some companies to do this. It's actually for your safety as much as theirs (making sure someone else isn't ordering a phone on/with your name).

- iPhone is a toy, not a mobile phone. If you make the mistake and buy it, make sure you learn how to hold it right so that it doesn't drop the calls. Windows Mobile? Not even Microsoft employees use that, they never did. There's talk about a new Windows Phone 7 OS coming out but there's no reason to get your hopes up about that being anything decent. Android is nothing but linux with java on top. Have you ever used linux on your PC? It sucks. Only hackers love it because they can change everything on it and they are happy if for making a phone call they have to use a command line like: dial --5554323 --nodtms --nogui ;) Have you ever used Java? It is ugly and slow. No wonders that even Nokia could't make a linux phone with a battery life of more than 4 hours. So your only option is Symbian, the best option out there for now. Excellent battery life from an OS designed for mobile, with gorgeous devices designed by Nokia and perfect build quality. Plenty of apps are available for you, the latest Nokia N8 can play games or video on your HD tv and browsing, over WLAN or 3G is a joy. The phone plays any video you want, straight from the internet, be it flash (youtube) or xvid (torrent)

- I have the phone. The touchscreen is very responsive and easy to use, and everything on the phone like messaging and calling is good. The 3.2 megapixel camera is also pretty good too! It has quite a few little extras that are quite nice like the basic calculator as well as a converter which is useful. The only thing i find really frustrating about the phone is that it doesnt allow you to put any content on it such as new games and applications unless they are paid for! It doesnt have a stylus as it is sometimes advertised. The other thing is it can be difficult to connect it to a pc because my laptop with vista can never locate the driver. The last complaint i have is the headphones. They're rubbish. but other then that the phone works well and is very stylish if you only want it for the basic calling, texting etc. hope this helps.
