Q:i am looking into the future and looking at what i need to buy for a horse *so i can save up enough*right now i'm looking at rugs and saddles.. i have been looking on the horseland website (sells all horse stuff for outside aussies)and i have noticed that some saddles range from $300 - $800 *could never afford one over $1000* ... there doesnt seem to be much difference between them both...
Your link just goes to the main menu page so I didn't get to see which saddle you were asking about. Basically a good saddle, if looked after will probably outlast you ! Rugs can be complicated, I don't know what sort of weather you get but here in the UK my horses are out for most of the time ( they only come in a night in the worst part of winter and they don't like that much either !) I have full neck rugs for really nasty cold time and ones without necks for when it's just normal winter weather. They don't wear any rug during the summer as a rule but if it rains for long periods ( as it has this year) I put the lighter neckless rugs on them. If it got sweaty during riding in winter then towelling dry is a good idea and you can also get a cooler rug - this acts like a string vest and stops the horse getting chilled while he's cooling down. As your horse would be going straight back into the field it would be best to cool him down on the way back from your ride so he doesn't get home so sweaty. You can't just go throwing thick rugs on sweaty horses so you would need to walk him round in a cooler to get him dried off first. If this turned out to be a problem with you spending ages cooling him down you could get him clipped which would stop him getting soaked but then you would need a really good rug to make up for the lack of winter coat.
Q:We just got laminate flooring. It's tongue and grove and looks like shiny cherry wood. We have a 5x7 area rug in the middle of the floor, it's just a simple flat maroon area rug bought from Walmart. Is there anything I can place underneath the area rug that won't scratch the flooring and that will keep pet stains from seeping through to the laminate flooring. I have a 16 year old dog and he pees everywhere and for some reason he's fond of area rugs. I've pulled the carpet up to find that the pee has seeped through. Also because of the seepage I'm afraid of thoroughly cleaning the soiled area, such as with a carpet cleaner, because of the cleaners seeping down to the laminate.Thanks.

Q:I have a Large area rug that I need cleaned. A woman that had a HOUSE TRAINED dog gave it to me. I want to clean it as the dog walked and layed down on this rug as well. The dog never urinated on this rug which is good. It just smells like dog so I want to get it cleaned. I don't think a rug doctor will do the trick. Does anyone out there know where I can take it to be cleaned. Again this a LARGE. thanks. Or if you have used a rug doctor or s specific cleaner to remove (not cover up) the odor please let me know what works for you.
Karen's answer would be best, just put it in the yard and soak the crap out of it.. but if you don't have a yard, the bathtub will do. Put it in, put some detergent in, (and maybe the salt to help keep the dye from going anywhere) swish it around a lot and maybe let it soak, then drain and refill the tub until you feel it's rinsed.
Q:There's a shag rug that has been in my basement for 15 years. Now, my basement is unfinished and is a bit damp in the summer but only on the walls. The rug itself is in pretty good shape but it does smell a tad bit damp and gross haha, and the bottom is a little shredded. Is there a way to clean it up so I can use it in my bedroom upstairs?
Talk to a dry cleaner. They will tell you whether or not it's salvageable and how much it will cost.
Q:Hello, My dog chewed my carpet in my apartment in a few places. I dont think it needs completely replaced but I want to pass the inspection when I move. It is quite obvious in a couple of places and we just dont want to be held liable for whole apartment replacement. Can someone give me an idea how to make it passable again?
I like the idea of taking it from a closet. Just want to forewarn you that the pet deposit is likely not going to be returned to you. And, if it were my carpet your pet ruined/damaged, I'd likely ask for it to be replaced- same condition as when you moved in- with normal wear and tear. I think puppy is going to cost you a bit for this chewing.
Q:How do I avoid over-charge by the carpet company as a reuslt of over-measure the room size? I have two rooms, room I is 10'6'' by 29'2quot;. Room II size is 11'8quot; by 12' 10quot;, with a closet size 7' by 2'4quot;. The carpet comes in width of 12'. How many sq ft do I need to order the carpet for room I and room II? For room I, the carpet size, without adding any buffer space for edge trimming, is 12' * 29'2quot; = 356 sq ft. For room II, the carpet size, without adding any buffer space for edge trimming, is 12' * 12'10quot; = 154 sq ft. The room II closet is 12 * 2'4'' = 28 sq ft. How many add'l sq ft do I need to add to allow buffer for trimming in each room? ThanksSM
This seems a bit like basic math so let's see where this goes, and hope it can help ya along the way. (I'm converting it all to inches) Room #1 : 10'6 X 29'2 126 X 350 44,100 Room #2: 11'8 X 12'10 140 X 154 21,560 Closet #1: 7' X 2'4 84 X 28 2,352 Total area = 44,100 21,560 2,352 Total = 68,012 one sq foot is 12 X 12 = 144 So.... 68012/144 = 473 sq. ft. If we assume a standard 12' width for our sq ft then we need a length of: 473/12= 39.4 feet and this would be Best Case Scenario To figure your Worst Case Scenario you could just assume you'll be using the width of 12 feet for each cut ( room) and just pull off of the roll the length you need to do the whole room. This means, we only need to add the lengths to figure how many feet pulled off of the rolls we require. 29'2 + 12'10 + 2'4 350 + 154 + 28 = 532 44.3 feet pulled off the rolls.
Q:I just refinished our hard wood floor and want to put down an area rug. Will the new woven backings hurt the finish?
To be honest, yes they will. My in laws have beautiful walnut hardwood floors throughout their 3600 sq. ft. home and they placed their first area rug, and when they went to clean under it only a week later, there were faint markings that they were unable to buff out. Their solution? Non slip foam on a roll that can be found either where rugs are in the store, or in the dishes/dish drainers and silverware organizers aisle. They got thick enough foam, and put it in all four corners, and three in the middle, and have been so successful that they've gotten more rugs. They have a small dog, who causes enough damage just running around on it, so this solution seems to have helped. I hope you are as lucky as they were! ; )
Q:What do you think of this rug?
I love it!!! It's just my style...u can get either of those colors in a couch...like u can get a lilac couch and then have the pillows match the other colors in the rug or vice versa...u can also get different color arm chairs to match your rug and couch...this is definately a great pick! There's so much to do with these colors and u can also match them up with material at a fabric store to make matching pillows, furniture throws, curtains, etc...u can even do flower arrangements to match this and sit it on your coffee table.
Q:For the past 6 months or so, my cat has been peeing and pooping on my throw rug (which, just so you know, was an expensive rug from Crate Barrel which I love). My rug is stained from cat pee, and I just had it cleaned deodorized this past weekend in the hopes that she would stop using it as a litter box. I used to think that she did it out of spite, but I can't figure out why she'd be mad at me or my live-in boyfriend (who she belongs to, but we've been living together for about a year and dating for a year and a half, so she knows me well and is very loving towards me). I don't know how to get her to stop using my rug as a toilet. Any suggestions? And, putting her to sleep is not a suggestion. We love her. But, if she doesn't stop pooping and peeing on my rug I don't know what II'll do!
It's best to remove the rug rather than to tempt the cat. Some rugs contain an ingredient in the rubber and fibers that has ammonia so your cat could be marking over it because it smells the ammonia. Rubbing a cat's nose in their business never works as they only learn to fear the person doing it to them unfortunately. If your kitty isn't spayed she could be marking her territory or if she is spayed she may have a bladder infection.
