- You will need 132 tiles-get a few extra in case of breakage.I would go with 1/4 space or less. They sell 1/8th inch spacers-less grout to use and less sealer.

- They are cold and do not provide very firm footing. Dogs generally do not favor tile. Try some big area rugs to make the dog more comfortable,

- Prep your counter to meet tile standards, Each one can be different so with out knowing what yours is I cant say there. You ll need to figure what you want to do with the edge to trim it out. You can use a tile bull nose or a wood trim. Spread the needed glue, usually a thin set , over a small area. Then you can break tiles , ( very carefully) with a hammer or a pair of tile nippers. I use tile nippers to create the piece effect. These methods are called rubble effect. You ll need a honing stone to hone the tile edges so they are not sharp. Set into the wet glue, don t let it skim over or become dry. Grout as needed depending on what type of tile you use. - It could me just a simple ceramic tile, and could also be a mosaic glass tile, or anything in between. Tile comes in MANY different sizes, materials, and shapes, but smaller tiles are almost always mounted to a backing like you have described and are *generally* one foot squares. Check the link and I'm betting you are talking about either the top left one or the one on the right side second from the bottom. The shapes can be very different, but the application is at least similar, though glass tiles generally use a different mastic. Al

- To do it properly, you will have to tear out a section of the shower wall which will allow you to properly install the shelf frame. It will probably end up being much larger that the shelf bracket because it needs to be securely fastened to a supporting member probably connected to wall studs at both ends. And once secured, the entire area refinished in tile. Unfortunately you will probably not be able to match the existing tile, so you may have to re-tile the entire wall or even the entire shower, depending upon how important the finished appearance is to you. As you can see, this project may approach or exceed the effort required to completely redo the entire shower. So my recommendation is to put a shelf pole in the corner or use a hanging basket of some sort to hang from the shower arm. It is really up to you. Good Luck.

- Don't do this under any circumstances. Wall tiles are much thinner and are designed for wall use only. When a floor tile is designed they are much thicker and have also been stressed to take a weight. As other contributors have said wall tiles generally have a smooth finish and are therefore slippy whereas wall tiles will always have some form of anti-slip format. I don't know where you got your wall tiles but most shops will be happy to take them back and exchange them for other products such as floor tiles.
