Simple sense
Microlite is similar to granite forming conditions of high temperature, the crystallization and into the material. In terms of appearance quality, the polishing plate surface finish is far higher than stone (photometric gloss units can reach 90-90), the characteristics of the more important is that its special crystallite structure, make the light shot from any Angle, through the essence of fine crystal particles diffuse reflection, can be the light evenly distributed to any Angle (rather than just like mirror is focused on the reflection Angle), the sheet forming soft jade, more glittering and translucent and smooth than natural stone material, make the building more colorful.
performance
More physical and chemical advantages than natural stone: microlite is similar to granite forming conditions of high temperature condition, through the special process of sintering, and homogeneous structure, density, hardness, compressive strength, flexural, impact resistance and other performance is better than that of natural stone material, excellent durability, not easy damaged, less common finely crack of natural stone.
disadvantages
1, the surface of the microcrystalline jade crystal layer mohs hardness for 5 to 6 level, strength is lower than polishing brick mohs hardness grade 6 and 7.
2, microlite high surface gloss, can achieve 90%, if any scratches it is easy to emerge.
3, microlite surface has a certain number of pinhole, encounter dirt is easy to appear.
4, in addition to a small number of high-grade microlite tile, each is different because most microlite floor tile decorative pattern, it's hard to do pattern seamless docking.
- Q:i used the baskup board, the adhesive, then put the adhesive on each tile.
- I would assume that you are talking about tiles on the floor ..that can be a number of things..#1 the floor has movement...should have 2 or more layers of structural plywood or similar product with joints overlapped...and be 1.25 thickness or more...#2 if you used adhesive (glue) is it for floor tiles and are they of the right size...most larger ties need a thinset type mortar...#3..are the tiles you used floor tiles...wall tiles should not be used on the floor...#4..if the adhesive does not support the entire tile any void could create a weak spot and direct pressure would crack the tile..#5.. the actual floor support may not be strong enough or the span too long thus you would get deflection (movement) if the floor moves or flexes your tiles will loosen or crack.
- Q:I heard that ceramic tiles absorb water and we have ceramic tile in the downstairs bedroom. After I wash the tile floor how long do I wait until I can move our dressers and furniture back on the tile? Because once I bring in the dressers I don‘t think the tiles will have a chance to dry because it is fully covered by the dressers, right?
- it depends on the ventilation in the room tiles will dry quickly because they do NOT absorb water
- Q:Which tile is best Porcelain or ceramic for a concrete floor?
- This Site Might Help You. RE: What is the best tile for concrete basement floors? Which tile is best Porcelain or ceramic for a concrete floor?
- Q:I was clowning around with my son and I accidentally knocked over a table and chipped a tile. It's about a quarter size chip. You can actually see the dark bottom part of the tile so its kinda deep. I was wondering if I can fix it without replacing it. What do I need? By the way, I blamed on my 4 year old !!!!!!!!! THX 4 ur help!
- First of all, own up to the accident and apologize to your son and your wife! If you are lucky, you may be able to find some grout to match, that you can fill in the hole with. Go to your local tile store and see if they might have a Custom Blend Grout Chart or a ProSpec Grout chart that you can take home and see what color comes closest to the tile. Or you could try either brand in a sanded caulk in a tube. The only other choice is to replace the tile, which generally is hard to match! Or to place a piece of furniture or a rug, over the spot. That may not be best, depending on what part of the floor the spot is at!
- Q:i have just put down adhesive floor tiles in my bathroom, do i now need to use an extra sealant/pvc wash to seal the joins between the tiles as my kids enjoy splashing in the bath and i dont want the floor ( pvc sealed boards ) to lift if water gets in the gaps?
- Sure, if you have gaps i recommend sealing the joints. If the joints are just seams you should be fine, and won't need to seal.
- Q:After completing a bathroom tile job, including a tile baseboard border about 6 up from the floor, we have dried thinset in on the actual wall - places we missed during cleanup. I‘ve tried using some scrapers (plastic and metal), and the dried thinset is like concrete (naturally) and is pulling layers of drywall off with it. Is there a solvent or better way to remove the dried thinset from both the wall and the exposed rim of the tiles? As a last resort I might be okay with slight damage to the walls as they need serious prep anyway before paint, but I do want to make sure i haven‘t missed some very obvious, easier, better solution first.
- Rip, dig or pull it off. It has to come off and there is no trick way to do it. You can mud the damage when you prep the rest of the wall for painting.
- Q:The Mercer Street tunnel in Seattle has tile on the walls, columns, and ceiling and it always looks filthy. It seems like tiling is way more expensive than just concrete walls and the concrete would look nicer. So why did they tile the tunnel?
- Q:Having done some work in the bathroom we would like to reuse some of the tiles we took of which arent broken, does anybody have any suggestions as to how we remove the adhesive and grout so that they can be reused?
- Just get new tile, its worth it in the long run!!! Your time is worth something
- Q:I want to put ceramic tile in my dining room, my room is 12' x 11'. So how would I go about deciding how many tiles I would need? The tiles are 12x12. But for ceramic tiles dont you have to leave space in between them?
- First measure the room from wall to wall.Length and width.Multiply the numbers. This gives you square footage.Add another 15 square feet for cutting and breakage.Tiles are sold per square foot not amount.Space in between does not matter in calculation. This is up to you.If you want a more full look make space smaller. This is easier for maintenance(cleaning).1/4 inch is normal, 3/8 is big.The bigger the space it's harder to grout plus will cost more in grout.Make sure to use grout similar colour to tile.If your floor is wood underneath then you have to fasten it so it does not vibrate and then lay a wire mesh before putting on the tile. This is important,if you do not do this the tiles will crack. To remove them costs more than putting them on.
- Q:for making cement decorative hand made cement tile there is device sometime call cookie cutter also to portrait some design is called divider
- The metal frame that divides the tile into different sections is made from strips of metal carefully bent and soldered into place. I have seen steel ones and also brass mold patterns. The key to it is to have the bottom of the strips perfectly flat and level so that when you pour in the liquid cement mix, each color stays in its own compartment. See the link below to see a mold pattern and also the finished tile from it. A lot of history and more photos are on the second link.
