Q: I want to put vinyl tiles on my pre-existing ceramic tiles but in some areas there is no ceramic tiles and I need something to fill in the gap to make my floors even when I put on the vinyl tile. What should I use? Then when my floors are even how do i put my tiles?
Depending on what vinyl tiles you buy, it's best to follow manufacturers instructions. If not, contact the vinyl tile company to make sure what is the best method to use lay your vinyl tiles down. Hence ceramic tiles does have very deep grout lines and may or may not have scratches or depressions in it. You should use an embossing leveler to level out the floor. Use it according to manufacturer's instructions. Secondly, it's best to use a primer. Hence a latex primer is always good. But depending on the tile, if you are purchasing a self-stick tile or regular vinyl tiles. The brand of vinyl tile always recommends you to use a certain type of primer that allows the glue to adhere better. Then you won't have any tiles popping up.
Q: want to tile counter top with out using hardboard
It can, but it won't hold up very well. The formica will break up underneath, leaving an uneven tile surface and you having to regrout it often. Take up the formica. - Stuart
Q: he walk on tile like he is walking on ice it is kinda funny but still is it anything i need to worry about he is just a baby puppy like 4 to 5 months old
tile is slick for dogs but he'll get better he's just a puppy
Q: What is transparent tiles
Fashionable, bright ice crack, high density, high hardness, good flatness, covered with the line after the neat, smooth and beautiful, non-general market compared to ordinary tiles.
Q: I am installing 13x13 porcelain tile on a wall. Should I leave a 1/4‘‘ gap for grout or can I butt them up tight for a smaller grout line?
large tiles (13x13) usually require at least a 3/8 space. you can butt up the tile but ive seen this done and it does look awkward .
Q: Do I need to remove the existing 1 ceramic tiles in the shower stall, or can I apply the new 8 ceramic tiles right on top of the old ones? The sides are drywall, but the floor of the stall has 1 tiles that look like a pain to remove.
You can use the 8 tiles on the walls of the shower. However, the floor of the shower must slope into the drain. The 8 tiles will not allow the slope to be created properly. If you etch or clean the floor tiles with an acid solution (muriatic acid) you can lay new tiles over them with thinset. However, it is much better to pull the floor tiles up, repair the drain pan if necessary, and install new tiles. You may want to hire a pro for the floor and then do the walls yourself. Good Luck.
Q: Do I want to use the concavity of a marble tiles to make a TV backdrop, right? Help designers,
This is not very good to do, consider the next hand-painted, the effect is good, I also Nanning,
Q: I need either of two types of tile one was a sheet of multicolor mosaic tiles the other is a creamy colour with a beige sort or swirly thing going through it
Rose, You might get lucky and find them if you Google it. Only 3 years old, you might find them somewhere out there. Good Luck !!!
Q: My father wanted to replace the tiles in the master bathroom as he plans on putting the house on the market. I was skeptical whether or not he could accomplish the project and after hitting several snags I‘ve decided to get involved. The problem is that the old tile was removed and there‘s only 7/8 - 1 to work with. The new tile is 3/8 thick; leaving 1/2. His original plan was to lay down plywood, cement board, then tile, however, it‘s going to raise the floor a solid 1 which will cause several complications. Any advice on what the #$@* I‘m supposed do? I truly appreciate all of your help.
It wont raise the floor, jus fix your tiles with a good tile adhesive . dont go for cement.
Q: I have several boxes of wall tile and I would like to use some on a floor. Is this okay? What is the difference?
First, wall tiles are thinner than floor tiles. Because of gravity, wall tiles are made slightly thinner to make adherence to your wall easier. Wall tiles are also often more porous on their adhesive side than ceramic floor tiles, again for ease of installation. Ceramic floor tile on the other hand is made thicker for application to flat surfaces. It is also set with a different mixture of thinset mortar. You can find most styles of floor tile made for walls as well so that you can match your border to your floors. Consult with a ceramic floor tile specialist to see if they can find the style you are looking for in both ceramic floor tile and ceramic wall tile.
