Q: alright, 5 speakers with 4ohm svc, what would my wiring options be?
With 5 speakers there won't be a symmetral wiring pattern for even power distribution. With 4 it would be 2 pair in parallel with both sets in series for a 4 ohm final load or all 4 in parallel for a 1 ohm final load.
Q: what size of wire should I use for my 1.5hp aircon, 220volt
If the distance to the power source is 100 ft or less a #10 wire should work. If it is further than that you should call an electrician. added note: # 14 copper is for light service wire. It would max out under use with an AC and possibly overheat.
Q: I just installed a Unity Spotlight on my 2007 Chevy Impala. There's a 6 inch wire coming out of the handle. When I stripped the wire there is a few strands of copper wire. How do I wire up the light? There isn't a distinct positive or negative.
I okorder /... check out literature for others, if this don't help.
Q: The wire from the cicuit breaker
8 guage if it's 220v
Q: im installing lights in my car and it says i need a 12v wire. can i use somthing more then a 12v wire? im hooking it right from my battery. what other wires can i use?
Depends what lights they are, spot lights perhaps?,anyway, tell your local parts shop what you`re wiring up and the will supply you with the correct cable. Or you could go down the scrappy and rip out some of the thickest cable and use that.
Q: i need thin insulated wire like this.
it is called enameled magnet wire. try an electronics supply house or a motor and transformer electrical supply house. you can also purchase it online. you could also just take apart an old electric fan or door bell and unwind the magnetic wire. ~the other answerers don't understand wire, enameled magnet wire has a fine enamel insulation that needs to be sanded off in order to make a connection, as the enamel electrically insulates it to prevent an obvious short, but allows the inductive fields to easily pass through. it is used in all motors and most xfmr's.
Q: my light stopped working ( a chandalier ). It has brown wires, blue wires, red wires, beige wires, and white wires.
Wow, this is a first. most lights have just two wires a black<hot and a white<neutral wire and you just hook black to black using a wire-nut and the same with the white wire and the switch completes the circuit. In some ceiling fans they have blue or brown wires that are also hot to run to the lights at the bottom of the ceiling fans to power that but a chandelier should not have all of that. You might want to call in an electrician for this particular problem because if its a junction box with other wires hooked into that area it could cause a fire or worse a loss of life if you don't know what your doing and disconnect the electricity from the electrical panel by shutting off the power and checking it with a meter. Hope this helps and I would love to see a pic of that chandelier that has that many different color wires!!! wow
Q: While updating the parents basement we needed to replace a very very old 3 way switch. However, the wiring to the Fluorescents seems extreme to me. Here is how i can describle the layout. Panel - junction box - double splice (one to light fixture and one to threeway switch below it)-. From that threeway switch 12-3 wiring to upstairs landing with other threeway switch resides. How should I make my connections to switches? If the other swtiches were not so old I would just copy them.
John has described the three way circuit for you. Your description matches his description. Good paradigm for amateur fiddlers with wiring: If it works, don't try to fix it.
Q: I live in a condo and Im trying to wire a new light. When I wire it, it stays on constantly despite hitting the switch. The wiring Im dealing with is as follows. At the switch on the wall, there is a red wire, brown wire connected to the switch. A green wire connected to the box in the walll behind the switch. In the ceiling there is a brown wire, green wire, and a white wire wrapped with an unstripped red wire.Coming from the fixture are black, white, green.Ive tried connected black-brown, white-white green-green but the light stays on no matter what. Also tried white-brown, black-white, green to bolt. Still the same thing happens. Not sure what to do.
Assuming (and one never should) that the red wire at the switch is actually stripped and around one of the two terminal screws, then it should be correct, previously this ceiling box must have been being used for possibly a smoke detector or anything that they wanted to remain hot... but you should be able to (and either turn off the breaker, remove the fuse, or at least make certain that the switch is in the off position if you can, and look closely, often they get installed upside down, but dont confuse this with three and four way light circuits, lol) strip this end of the red wire at the ceiling box and wire nut green to green, white to white, and the remaining black (should be) from the light fixture to the red you stripped, this should solve the problem for you. Q: im installing an amp and i have no clue what to do with thw power wire.... I read to cut open my steros power wire (usually the blue) and wrap my power wire around it... I found the blue wire but there was a tag... Caution Remote output only... This is not the wire for power supply. please connect this wire to the remote for the amplifier... Does this mean i just connect this wire directly to my amp?
ok wait hold up. so the only wire that should be hooked from the amp to the headunit is your speaker wires, remote turn on wire, and your rca cables. ....What you need to do is get the power cable(usually red) run it from positive on the battery to the POS on your amp. next put your ground wire from the GND on the amp to bare metal on your cars chasis.
