Q:Hey can some1 help me, on my lamp i have a White, a Yellow wire with tints of green in it and a black wire. on my cord that i am going to plug in is a Blue, brown and a yellow wire: Run a continunity check on the cord from the brown and blue wires to the blades on the plug. The brown should go to the wider blade, but could be other way around. Then the yellow wires go together. The one (brown or blue) from the wider blade goes to the black one from the lamp. The other one goes to the white wire.

Q:I'm cutting 18 gauge wire, so I can run valve wires to the timer in the garage. The plastic casing over the wire is pretty thick, so I had to squeeze hard. I accidentally cut into the color casing of the actual wire inside, so I want to start over. How can I cut this wire away, and start again?: Take a utility knife and cut a 3/4 slot at the end of the cable parallel with the conductors. Use two pliers, one to hold the outer sheath, and one to grip the conductors. Pull them 180 degrees away from each other. When you have the stripped length you want, cut off the outer sheath where the wires are not inside. Any cutting around the circumference of the sheath while the wires are enclosed, will lead to cutting the insulation on the wires. This is why many manufacturers install a nylon zip cord inbetween the wires. You can grab it with one pliers and pull it away from the cable while holding the cable with the other pliers, to cut the outer sheath.

Q:there is a loose wire in my labtop charger wire. can i fix it or prevent it from happening.: Loose wires just happen - from the way a cable is bent, moved, stored,wrapped, etc... I think (providing it doesn't happen right after you get the product) that it's pretty much normal wear and tear over time. You could try to repair it, but it would involve removing the cable sheath and re-attaching the loose wire which may need soldering. You're probably better off just buying a charger. In my experience, cables tend to last longer if you don't tightly wrap or twist them during storage; I generally just loosely fold them.

You just Need to Hook the large Power wire for your amp direct to battery, The large black ground wire to the frame or body, Something metal. And the small Power wire To Switched power. IE, a terminal on the fuse block thats only hot with the key ON. Thats it. Good luck.

Q:I'm trying to wire a Sony L410X stereo to my 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500. I don't want to use a wiring harness, so I'm trying to figure out how to splice the wires together. I don't know how to hook the power wires up correctly. Obviously hooking the speakers up will be easy. I've tried looking at the wiring diagram but it seems like on the stereo system diagram it's positive and negative whereas the truck wiring is not identifying the negative wiring, just 12v+ Constant and 12v+ Switching. Q:I am in the process of installing a new thermostat, but I ran into the problem: new thermostat has 4 ports W, Y, R and G. But the old thermostat has 5 wires: W, Y, G and B. I am not sure where B wire (black color) should go. Do I need to look for another thermostat that has a port for B wire?: The black wire should be for ground. You and try to connect it without the black first to see if everything works ok, if it does tape off the black and tape it to the other wires. If not look at your UPM diagram and see which port is for ground and it should hook up with that wire. But I would double check with the heat pump wiring diagram to see what that black goes to and verify that wire with a multimeter.

Q:i have a 92 saturn and bought the wire harness, i put all the wires together and all that turned on was the theft light that comes on when you take off the face after that i tried putting the red and yellow wires together and it worked, just without the key having to be in the ignition and i think that is why the stereo gets so hot so can youall tell me how to wire it correctly?: if leith was paying attention he would of realized you already have the wire that goes straight to the battery. YOU need a wire to hook up to the red one that comes on with the ignition. if the wire thats supposed to work for this dont for some reason you can 1. hook it into the fuse box with something that comes on with the key or 2.you can simply hook the yellow wire and a 4 foot peice of 12 g wire to the one that gives it power then with your extra wire run itout on the dash for a toggle switch and run that back to the red wire and remember to turn it off or you will have a dead battery in the morning :)
