Q:The faucets are Kohler faucets and they are probably not brass but are brass colored. Any suggestions you might have will be appreciated.

if you aren't sure if it actually is brass i'm not sure how well of a job it will do in polishing it. Basically most polishes work by rubbing off the oxide that has formed. I'm not sure how brasso wil react with non-brass metals, the same way iwouldn't polish sterling silver with brasso. if anything might i suggest some sort of home concoction? I Think vinegar was something peoples used as polishing. It has an acidic property to help remove the oxide, but no chemicals to worry about that might mingle with the metal. I don't recall what else they mix with the vinegar. You can just google "home made polish" I'm sure it'llg ive you a list of them Well good luck with your fixtures.

Q:I am replacing my kitchen faucet and I have a garbage disposal in front of it. Should I remove the garbage disposal or just work around it?

they sell a basin wrench, a long shaft with a swivel crows foot. it extends, leave the garbage disposal alone for not , remove it as the very last resort Lowe's or Home depot

Q:So, my cat is about 10 years old now and up until a few months ago he would drink his water out of his designated water bowl we set out for him. But one day I filled up the sink in my bathroom to soak some clothes in it and I noticed he LOVED drinking out of it. But soon, that was the ONLY place he would drink out of. For awhile I would fill up the sink and leave it there for him, but eventually that wasn't good enough for him. Now the water has to be running and he sticks his head under to drink. He won't drink any other water any other way and it's getting rather irritating. He will sit in my bathroom and meow until I turn on the faucet for him, sometimes at ungodly hours while I'm sleeping, and he just won't quit! Why do you think he has such high expectations? And how can I break this habit he's gotten into?

Q:I do not know much about handiwork but I am forced to do it anyway. I ordered a new hose (old one was leaky) for my kitchen faucet. I was able to attach the new hose to the faucet, but am having trouble connecting the other side to the water line.The line runs vertically and is in a tight corner which is preventing me from getting in there with plyers or a wrench. I try to turn the hose counter-clockwise against the water line it is attached to, but the awkward placement of the line is making it very difficult to exert direct forceI feel there is a special tool/ technique I can use to detach the old hose and attach the new onePLESAE HELP

you will need whats called a Basin Wrench to reach up into that small area and unscrew it. any hardware store will have them, and the cheapest one will be fine, the expensive ones are just more durable and adjustable for us plumbers that use them everyday. good luck

Q:It slides around constantly. I can even lift it 3/4 inch upwards and see the pipes underneath in their little holes. I have felt under there with my fingers but I don't know what I'm feeling for to try and tighten it. What is the mechanism that tightens it to my sink, and how do I go about fixing it?

i know you know how to tighten it underneath, it's just a loose nut, but as an addition put water based epoxy between the faucet and the basin to have better hold. do not use the faucet overnight for best results.

Q:I Just bought a new kohler faucet to replace my old but the hoses on the new ones are short. It has a 3/8 connector and my old one had a 5/8 connector...the old hose is pinched into the shutoff valve tap so i cannot remove it...what can i do to connect the old pipe with the new one...please help....home depot was no help

You fit a 5/8 reducer down to 3/8th.

If it is new clothes, to see if it is blocked foreign body. Can check it out. Can be opened to open the place to take a look, such as the shower removed to the shower faucet to see if the water pipe is blocked, remove the shower after the water is not big.
