- Q: I have a Speedaire 4B234 its currently wire to 120V but keep flipping the breaker and I have a 240V in the garage so I want to wire it to that. I have 2 blue wires, 2 red wire, and 2 green wires but the green wires are hooked together. One blue wire goes to Line and the other to Motor and same thing with the red wires.
- I looked up the specs on the 4B234. Says it CAN be wired to 240. You will just have to follow the wiring diagram on the motor or with the instructions. Specs say it pulls 15 amps at 120 v or 7.5 amps at 240 v. Your problem now is that maybe you only have a 15 amp or a 20 amp breaker. 15 amps is probably the continuous running draw. The current surge on start up goes over 20 amps and is what is flipping your breaker. you will need a double pole (2 wire) 20 amp breaker. wire it with #12 wire. Say a green, red, black. (or you can use blue and red) Green is always ground (should be). 240 volts works by being 2-120's out of phase by 180 degrees. One wire is pushing (+) while the other is pulling (-). You hook one wire to the motor in and the other to motor out. Running 240 will increase your efficiency.
- Q: I need help installing a Pioneer DEH-P3700MP in a Saturn S Series 2001, the wiring harness does not fit and need to know how to connect the wires. Which wires go to what on the Saturn?
- They sell adapter plugs that come with a wiring diagram for like 10 bucks great investment. You can get at best buy circuit city small audio shops blah blah Make sure you diconnect your battery BEFORE doing all this wiring
- Q: I am installing a GFCI outlet in the kitchen (20 AMP) the box that it is already installed in has more than nine wires running into it. What I need to know is how does one determine the load wires from line wires when there are multiple wires running to an outlet box?
- You use some test equipment to determine which is the line cable. All of the grounds are connected together. Identify each of the remaining wires with numbers BEFORE you disconnect anything. After that you can make a wiring drawing of the connection box and device before you disconnect anything. Once the drawing is done you can tun off the circuit(s) and begin the changes. The line/hot wire and it's neutral are connected to the G F I line connections, the load connections are made to protect any down line devices. If you do not need to protect the down line devices all of the connections can be made before the G F I device. If this seems too much of a challenge for you the best solution is to have a qualified professional electrician do the work.
- Q: my rabbit is chewing wires and in one area in my room there are like 300 wires i was just wondering if i can spray something on the wires cause i thought i saw something that said that please help!!!!
- well you could but I would not guarantee it working. Wires are just a bunny magnet. Bunnies often actually like spicy, bitter tastes. I had one that liked bitter apple. Really best is out of reach out of danger. You could keep bunny out of that room or cover the wires. Furniture the bunny cannot fit behind, large diameter aquarium tubing, for multiple wires all going to the same place even sump pump hose. For my computer desk I installed a baby gate.
- Q: Are those coils of wires in an electric fan magnetic?
- Magnet Fan Motor
- Q: Okay, I just started tearing into my partially finished basement of the home I bought last week. Some of the electrical wiring is interesting to say the least.I have a junction box in the basement. One wire connects directly to the panel, another out to an outlet, and the third goes up and out to half the house. All of this is 14/2 except the quot;thirdthat runs up and out. This is wired with 14/3 but the third wire isn't connected to anything. Should I be concerned considering every outlet in the house works?
- Are you saying the 14/3 is being used as 14/2? Sometimes that is done because if at some later time you need the third line you have it. Or the electrician had extra wire and just used 14/3. 14/3 can be used for switched receptacle. a
- Q: I just tore my old shed down, that was wired for electrical. though I never used power out there There is size 10 wiring (two wires), running from the house to where my shed was. I then bought a Tough Shed from The Home Depot and put it where my old shed was. While working on wiring my new shed for electricity, I turned power off to the entire house.I am trying to install power to the shed and I spliced the size 10 wires to size 14 (three cable, includes a ground) which I have connect to an electrical outlet in the shed, but once I turn the main power box back on, the circuit that runs power to the shed keeps tripping off. Am I missing something here? Thanks
- Open the splices and leave the size 10 wires unattached with wire nuts over them. Try to power up the wires when they are disconnected. If it doesn't trip, you must have reversed your wiring. If it trips, the wires are shorted to ground. Perhaps the wires are rotted out under ground or grounded by a sharp metal edge. The shed curcuit breaker should be changed to a 15 amp if you will splice to 14 gauge. Or: There should be a breaker box like there was in the old shed, with 15 amp breakers for for 14 wire. 20 amp for # 12 wire.
- Q: I have a 98' F-150 and need to add a 4 flat trailer wire connector to it. What all do I need to do? Is their a special connector?
- go to your local auto parts store and ask the counter guy about trailer wiring. he should show you the right stuff
- Q: where also is fourth wire hooked in?
- If it is coming from the box at the street into your circuit breaker panel, I'll take a guess. Earth ground (Usually connected to a copper water pipe or a metal pole driven deep into the ground) Neutral (0V) +120 V (Most household circuits) +220 V (Dryers, stoves, possibly air conditioners and other devices needing lots of power. These have special plugs.) Unless you are ABSOLUTELY sure you know what you are doing (and it sounds from your question like you may not be) DO NOT mess around with mains wiring in your house and especially wiring coming into your house, since that isn't even on a surge protector to keep you even remotely safe. If you mess around with this stuff without knowing what you are doing, you could wind up DEAD or in the hospital VERY easily. I can't stress enough how dangerous electricity in large quantities is.
- Q: Planning a study for my youth group. The name of the series will hopefully be 'Are you wired correctly?'. The basis would be having the right tools and so on to be on fire for God. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
